cleans well, and is already clearing up some redness
Great for my sensitive skin. I develop redness around my nose from blowing it so much during allergy season, and allergy season tends to last longer and longer each year :-(This porcupine soap is helping a lot, and works well for my oily skin: cleaning it, but not stripping it.I like the smell, but it is strong, so I understand why it bothers some people. I find that the soap itself has a strong aroma (which gets less over time), but my skin does not have that aroma after washing. I love it, and I'll be back for more.

Great for Itchy Skin -- Both People and Pets
This pine tar soap has a very strong, campfire smoky aroma, which some people may find overpowering, but which I like. It reminds me of Colgin's Liquid Smoke, which I marinate chicken in (delicious!). It lathers brown, but it rinses right out and doesn't stain anything: not my white towels or my white cat. I got it to deal with my itchy scalp and dandruff and also to deal with itchy skin on my cat, who was scratching her head a lot. You don't get instant results, but you do get them in time. After using it 4-5 times, my dandruff is gone. After about 7 times, my scalp rarely itches. I have given my cat a complete bath one time and just a head shampoo twice more. She is still scratching a little, but nowhere nearly as much or as violently as she was before I started using the pine tar soap on her. I'm confident that in a few more weeks and a few more washes, this soap will take care of it. The smoky smell has diminished after a few weeks, but since I like it, it was never an issue for me. Pine tar soap is safe to use on dogs and cats as well as people. With regular use, it can deter fleas and ticks. Love this soap!

Love the stringth not so much the smell.
Very strong sent of Tar and works very well. However, it stinks to high heaven. When we first got it we couldn't find the source of the "stink". When found we put it a sealed soap dish and it took care of the problem. I do like the way it keeps down the skin flakes on my head and beard area. Will buy again.

Bought in December of 2022
I switched over to my wifes body wash, then Aveeno Sensitive Skin wash when the heat came on and my skin started to itch and dry. This morning I broke out the remaining bar of the Porcupine Pine Tar bar and feel better skin wise than the other stuff before mentioned. I will continue to use it and buy more if my results continue. By the way, I love the smell, reminds me of campfires, smoking meat over hickory. The second floor of house smells wonderful. Years ago I tried some of the other pine tar soaps found on Amazon and they did not compare to the Porcupine Pine Tar soap.Ya gets what ya pay for.Bill Clemens

Will not purchase again
I'm usually not one to complain and knock a product because just cause I didn't like it, doesn't mean anyone else won't. That being said, keep an open mind as I always try to. Do not look at my review to make your choice, do it for yourself. Maybe it's this brand that I had an issue with but not others. Cause reviews on other brands, have been great from what I saw. If anyone has an idea where I can get the other brands, let me know. Cause that's what I thought I was getting with this soap and it didn't go well for me.The facts;odor up close, was just gross. My son even asked "WTH is this?"color of it looked yucky when washing off my skin.the scent of it once it was dry, was not as invading as when it was in the shower with us. Maybe for someone that leaves soap bars for smell in their drawers to have their clothes smell fresh, it would be ok, idk.did have moisturizing factors or oils in it, according to ingredients in the box. My skin did feel great, but I had to toss this out. We had it too long and it was not a very satisfying smell to it in the end. (Mind you I gave this product a month or so) Our hallways close to our shower did have the musk soft smell of the soap for days, but in the bathroom, it was too overwhelming. I would definitely not purchase again. I was expecting the pine like smell others mentioned. It had a combo to me of tar, woods (moth), and English Leather musk, but gone wrong, cause English Leather musk usually smells great to me.
