I read an interesting recipe that called for "Chinese 5 spice". Well, I didn't have anything on my spice rack with that name so, naturally, I turned to Amazon. They offer several different brands and I picked this one at random. What a great choice. This is the most versatile and delicious spice you can imagine! It compliments so many dishes and has a wonderful savory flavor without being too spicy. The aromatic cinnamon makes the whole kitchen smell delicious and the ginger adds a bit of zing without being overly "hot". I now add it to many different dishes (orange chicken, beef & broccoli, beef stew, soups...) just to boost the "savory factor". What a great alternative when you want to make one of your routine dishes sparkle with a slightly new accent flavor!

It is amazing that the Chinese 5-spice powder gives off such a wonderful aroma when adding it to food as it is being prepared. I use it in many ordinary everyday dishes, just to see how it adds to the aroma and flavor. I am so happy to have found it once again.

This is strong ...do just a dash. It completes the pho and adds a perfect punch.

I was expecting this to be savory. The cloves are sweet and overwhelming.

This does not smell or taste like any traditional "oriental" spice..... It really just tastes like a chai tea seasoning.

Great value for the price, I use this spice when cooking stir fry, fried rice , and seafood dishes. Unable to find in local store, so I tried Amazon, on time delivery.
