Avista Sovereign TV Stand

An absolutely superior piece of engineering meeting functional beauty. Looks incredible and went together in a snap due to well fitted parts and ingenious screws fitted with 'knurled' knobs. We saw 2 complaints in the reviews that were not really applicable:1) 'Top glass dangerous and too easy to slide off due to hard taps it rests on' . This is not true at all if all parts are there and you read the instructions. The hard tabs are hollow. That person obviously did not insert the rounded silicone bumpers that the glass rests on making it almost impossible to shift.2) 'Glass not marked' ....Very easily overcome. It is only 3 pieces. The top is the largest. The bottom does not have a back hole on the edge for an anchor pin like the middle does.Overall we could not be more happy. The back screen hides the cords when held together with an electrical tie giving everything a sleek, clean appearance. The wood looks great. The top gives plenty of room for a sound bar and a 50" TV with room to spare.

There's quite a bit of foam packing in the box. Don't unpack in the house unless you like vacuuming up white foam bits. I understand the necessity because of the glass included. Just a note for others.Assembly is straightforward but only pictures. Its pretty intuitive. The rubber bumpers do NOT go on the top shelf. There are separate parts. If you want to see how it assembles, scroll through the pictures on the product page. Assembling requires no tools and the frame is as in the pictures, assembling with four thumbscrews. The rest of the assembly is easy, fairly intuitive and shouldn't take you thirty minutes, if that.The one star review complained about receiving a broken wood front piece and having to pay to ship it. In the package instructions is a notice not to ship it back but to contact them as listed and they will send a replacement. Most people, if it arrived broken, wouldn't get as far as the directions.I was a little disappointed as the glass is opaque black. Looking back on the pics I can now see that. I would have preferred clear. Its attractive but not really in my decor choices. Hey, its functional. I 've been looking at my ugly wall mount for years and envisioning a mega center. I'm a fairly skilled woodworker and I've built these before but the materials were over $1000. I want to do one in mahogany so double that. Sometimes you just have to go with the easy solutions. BTW, the wood base is veneer over ply, a step up from the particleboard furniture with the picture of wood on it.

I ordered this stand for our TV in our Southern home. It was shipped UPS and came with a beat up package. The box was open and all most tore in half by the time it arrived. When I took the parts out of the box I was amazed that the glass was not broken. The wood was another story, it had been damaged and had come unfastened on one end. I had some wood epoxy handy and used it to secure the end to the top piece. Once together we love the stand but I would not recommend purchasing this until the manufacture makes it travel proof. They will not pay for shipping it back if it's defective or damaged in shipment. Had the stand come in one piece I would have rated it five stars. We really like the way it looks and fits in the corner of the room. Unless your handy with fixing wood products I'd stay clear of this item or any item made by Avista.

The clean aesthetic looks of this unit simply amazes me every time i look at it. It is the right height for the TV such that TV is always at eye level for you. It can take screens upto 60' wide as long as they remain within the rated weight. I called to confirm this before ordering. It assembles in about 5 mins (after unpacking). There is nothing to screw The black glass shelves help camouflage all the AV devices (if you have black devices) resulting in a very clean finish. I considered many different stands but many others of similar size did not work well for a corner position while this one allowed me to push my 60" screen more into the corner than others would have (compared to rectangular stands).Really well thought and designed.

My problem with this item is that the laminated wooden frame was cracked and the joints that were glued were separated. The instructions on how to handle this situation was to not send the stand back but to call Avista for a replacement part. I called and was told that a replacement part would be sent out to me. Frank, the associate, who took my call told me to take a picture of the distressed item and to send an email to Avistausa. He said that the item would probably be sent out to me the next day. I sent the email out on December 1, 2014.Since I have not received the replacement part as of December 8th., I called the number that I called previously and was informed by way of an answering machine that it was not receiving any more messages because the mailbox was full.

My wife and I really like the unit. It is a good-looking piece of furniture. The panel in the back hides all cables, so that it does not seem to clutter up the area. There is very little assembly required - putting on a few non-skid tabs to keep the shelves in place, putting in a few pegs to give the shelves something to rest on. The only complaint I have is the instructions do not clearly distinguish the three shelves as to which goes where. The instructions talk about a 8 mm shelf and a 6 mm shelf. Other than that, it's great.

This item arrived in good condition. The pieces were well protected. The TV stand was easy to put together with easy-to-follow directions. The assembled TV stand is beautiful. It looks great in the corner of my family room and holds a 50” TV perfectly. Very pleased with this purchase. I would suggest placing the frame where you want it before inserting the glass shelves. It’s hard to move with the glass in place.
