TombowRollerball Pen Zoom 505 ,Ball 0.5mm , Silver , BW-2000LZ

My last one of this pen finally broke when the threads between the top and bottom wore out. I think I had it more than 20 years. Tombow's blue ink cartridges are my favorite color and write well. All around good sized pen.Even better: this pen for $15 is the same pen Tombow sells as the "ultra" pen for $55. I held up the new one to the old one to verify. Exact same pen.

I have had a TomBow pen for years. These pens write very well and the ink last a long time. I have lost and broken a couple so I had to purchase another. Broken, meaning the clip is usually the first to go. It is comfortable to write with.

Soni bought this because I have the mechanical pencil version. Actually I have the 5 and 9. I LOVE these!!! I will say that it's better to buy this while it's on sale for the following reasons; first of all it's so much lighter than the mechanical pencils! The line feels more like a 0.7 than a 0.5 though. I've tested against my other Tombow pens and also uni pens (making sure I use Japanese ones since the line varies from country to country) and this one is far thicker. Wish I could get a 0.5 refill sent.

I usually use $1 pens and have sometimes used $50 or $100 fountain pens. But this pen seems superior to either alternative. It writes smoothly and without skipping with a point finer than most reliable cheap pens. And it is much cheaper and easier to use that good fountain pens while matching their heaviness and solidity in the hand. If this one lasts me a year (and nothing indicates it won't), it will have been a very good buy.

The Tombow pen is outstanding. I only have two gripes. 1.) I wish the ink was a bit bolder like most rollerballs. 2.) The Tombow pens are proprietary so you have to use their refills. Other than that the pen is a quality metal pen with great weight and it's easy to write well with it.

To start with, this is a very nice pen at a great price point. There are a couple of picky little things that keep this from being a 5-star review. First, the cap has a very satisfying "click" when you close the pen; however, when you slide it onto the back end while using the pen, there is no click and it slides and slips enough that after a bit of use, it loosely hangs on the back end or falls off without re-pressing it onto the barrel. Not a huge deal, but the pen's barrel is just short enough and light enough that to use it without the cap on the back leaves me with the feeling that it is too short (my impression, maybe not yours). Second picky thing is that the writing end of the pen is nice and heavy, but the back end of the barrel is pretty light/plasticky. This makes adding the cap to the back end while using even more of an issue, in my experience. A little weight at the tail end might fix this in future model updates. Other than that, the grip is lovely, the width of the barrel is nice in my hand, the visual impression is that it is a "nice pen", and the actual writing experience is very nice and smooth. It's a keeper for me, but probably won't become my "all time favorite".
