It resembles a light bulb and usually made of rubber and fits into the palm of a hand to pump. By pressing the bulb with thumb deep and place the fine tip into the congested nose and then release the thumb. This sucking motion helps vacuum the mucus.

Works for 2yo son but might not for others
Pros: It works on my 2yo son. Helps clear out phlegm and very easy to clean up since you can open up the bottom and run hot water through that drains fast.Cons: It won't work for all nostrils, you need to really have a tight seal to be able to suck out the mucus. I can see this not working for my LO after a year or so.

Excellent suction
Special needs mom here. Tube fed baby. Can aspirate on his own secretions. What I’m trying to say here is I know about suctions bulb and mechanical we have them all. I. Love. This. Suction. When you get it it looks too big for a baby, but trust me it’s not, it works good and the bigger tip is better for getting thicker stuff. It can suck up the thick mucus that most other bulbs can’t get, as well as the boogers. East to clean/rinse. I think I may like this more than my mechanical suction machine (I definitely use it more cause it’s easier) but keep the mechanical suction if you need it, it doesn’t completely replace it
