Tintin in the Land of the Soviets

Far fetched
I found this far fetched - cutting a tree down with a penknife!?! But still, it was a start - the books got stronger, better and realistic. with more characters like Calculus, Captain Haddock and Thompson and Thomson (who were very funny)

As a child, I remember going to the library ...
As a child, I remember going to the library and checking out the Tintin books and being drawn into the adventure, wishing I could be Tintin. Now in my late 20's, I have decided to purchase all the Tintin books so that when my 2 year old is a bit older, I can share the world of Tintin with him :-D

The Bolsheviks as they really were at the height of their power
Excellent period portrayal .Shows what the world was like then.I was born before the Coronation, and Stalin was on the Soviet throne.

Needs an edit
This is the first Tintin book and sadly is before Herge got into his stride. It feels very much like a lot of newspaper cartoon strips stuck together rather than the book it should be.

Good - but remember it was written for children.
A good story - and one that shows that Herge was not taken in by the propaganda defending the oppressive Soviet regime in the 1920s. But remember this was intended for children - it is not a modern "graphic novel".
