Major Impossible (Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales #9): A Grand Canyon Tale

Another riveting adventure through American H
Another winner from Nathan Hale. This one incorporates more narrative complexity (via flashbacks) and the welcome addition of a black member to the Hale-hangman-Provost group that acts as the framing device for the story. The story, as always, is riveting and brings American history to vivid life as the one-armed Major John Wesley Powell and his motley group of (mostly) volunteers paddle, portage, and hike their way down the Colorado River, always minding the safety of their few barometers. I appreciated the author’s unobtrusive reminders that the local Native American population had been living in and exploring the area for thousands of years prior to Wesley and his crew.My 9 year old son absolutely engulfs the books in this series, and this one is no exception. He read it at least 3 times within the first week we had it. My kindergartener is not reading well yet but loved it when I read it to him. And I let them stay up 45 minutes past their bedtime the first time I read it to them because *I* wanted to finish the book.

Great books!
My boy who prefers playing sports to reading LOVES Hazardous Tales books. They are funny, but also educational. He loves that they are more like a graphic novel.

Nathan Hale Does It Again!
We bought this for our 10 year old, who devoured it in about 2 hours. It's accurate history told in the form of a comic book. **PLEASE BE AWARE** Because of the nature of the book and the research done, there is profanity. Over all, fantastic book!

Wonderful!
My 11 year old son has all of Nathan Hale's Hadardous Tales now. We have been waiting for this one to come out. The books are all truly entertaining and wonderfully illustrated.

Great books. Author needs to do more research on religions
I did not like how my faith was inaccurately portrayed in his book. Nathan Hale should do more research about religions before he stereotypes them in a negative light to all his readers. I had a great discussion with my son due to the author's prejudices. Next time, I would hope the author would do more homework on a faith that I cherish and love. Other than that disappointment, these books are amazing and help my kids fall in love with history.
