can't complain
Bought it mainly to prevent dust entering my new lens, it looks original to me, makes the image tiny bit sharper to my eyes, it's multi coated and It cleaned much easier than other Hoyas, to be honest I'd recommend this instead of the Pro version, there was no color shift either.UPDATE: after about 4 uses I notice very fine scratches, I've used only once cotton buds to clean just like all my other lenses in the past 10 years and these scratches appear to be inside the glass not on the surface so it could have arrived like this. I haven't tested if they're visible on the image yet but thus the 3 stars now.

Fits nice with minimal loss in image quality
One of the most important features of screw in filters is the filter thread, and the ability to add and remove the filters quickly and efficiently. The filter thread on some screw in filters is very poor and getting them on the lens (if they actually fit at all) and getting them off again simply doesn’t work. The filter thread on my Hoya UV filter doesn’t suffer any problems whatsoever, fits the front of my lens like a glove and can be easily added and removed. The loss in image quality using this UV filter is negligible and whilst there is obviously some degradation than using the lens without a filter you have to zoom right in and go pixel peeping to see. The protection this UV lens gives is more than worth the very slight decrease in image quality. The Hoya UV filter isn’t the most slimline filter available but this is not a problem for me. This filter doesn’t vignette and I find the slightly thicker frame useful as it provides more surface area to grip when adding and removing the filter. The Hoya UV filter isn’t the cheapest UV filter available, and there are several brands that are way less, but I think it is better to spend a little more and get a better quality filter that doesn’t affect the image as much as the cheaper brands.Overall the Hoya UV filter is an excellent bit of kit and highly recommended.

Worth getting
You can pay lots more but I'm not sure you'll get better. No discernable picture degradation to my eyes. Ones monitor, screen or printer will introduce more artifacts I'd suggest. Therefore fantastic value given the price of some brands. Perfectly engineered to screw on easily and no problems removing this or other Hoya filters I've got which are many years old. Don't pay more get this Hoya.

Good filter - well made but the "slim frame" claim is pushing it!
Very well made and optically fine as far as I can tell, feels really well put together unlike some cheaper brands. However Hoya's claim that this has a "slim frame" is laughable and misleading. It has exactly the same frame as filters I have from the 1980s and is just not slim compared to others I own (B&W for example). Not a particularly big deal but if you are expecting one of those super slimline filters - this isn't it.

Does What it Says
The filter does exactly what it is supposed to do, I've had absolutely no isses regarding picture quality or degradation. It comes off easily, I've had others that once they've been on a while stick, but so far this hasn't.
