Q: Does this unit come with a poe injector?

Yes, it does. But when purchasing exclusively (UAP-AC-LR-5-US) in other words the (5-Pack) this does not come with POE. only single units come with POE. Seller making 2-4-6 Pack should come with POE. Those bundles are created by the sellers. Not a real part number from the manufacturer.

i am not certain what you mean by controller. it is an access point that can be connected to your network; in that regard it does not require any additional hardware. it has only one port so it must be connected to a router (or switch in the very least). i suppose it can be standalone if you had the technical know-how to do this though it might be a difficult task. the device REQUIRES ubiquiti unifi software to configure it and this requires you to be hardwired to the device. it cannot be configured without the software. the software is a free download from their site.

Q: what is the range of the wifi? is it a bubble or oval dependinding on how its mouted? I am mounting it on a wall and need to wifi behind it as well

Ubiquiti AP signal patterns are optimized for a ceiling mount; a ceiling mount gives you a wider coverage area.
