One Of My Favourites!
Watermelon was my first Marian Keyes book. My best friend gave it to me when I was in hospital. This book means a lot to me. Not because I can relate to the story much but because of how the author writes. Once I start one of her books I can't stop. She involves you completely in the story. The family that feature in the book are amazing and Watermelon focuses on one of the five sisters in the family. There is a book on every sister and they are all unique and brilliant in their own way. It doesn't matter which book you start with as the author is very clever in how she introduces all of the sisters in each book. Angels, Anybody Out There, Rachel's Holiday and The Mystery of Mercy Close are the other books on the sisters. Get reading!

Disappointing, slow
Bought this as I’d just enjoyed Marian Keyes ‘The Break’, but I found this one pretty terrible... half way through and still nothing has really happened except lots and lots of repetitive moaning and describing the same things. Really dull. Sticking with it if I can and hoping it gets better.

Great intro to the Walsh family
Really enjoyed this book, second one I’ve read by Marian. I’m now onto my 4th book by Ms Keyes and thoroughly enjoying them. My favourite so far are Rachel’s Holiday and Grown Ups. This is a great read and it’s nice to look back on the times of the 90s - I remember them just, and I remember how good it was without mobiles!I’d like to hear more about Adam and Claire - hopefully in the sequel of Rachel’s holiday we’ll hear some more

My Fave Marian Book - Read ASAP!
This is Marian's best book by far, absolutely hilarious and so down to earth. This my first experience of the Walsh family and I fell head over heels with them. As soon as Claire arrives home to her Mammy the fun starts, despite Claire being in so much agony u don't feel depressed or sad as the book is so full of life.I haven't laughed out loud at a book in a long time but I did with Watermelon, especially when Claire goes to the doctor and he makes the comment about having sex again!!!Anna and Helen are great characters but the mum and dad are just so loveable and comical, especially the dad when he has to have a word with Claire about her moods and rages and not letting her mum watch her programmes!!!!I re-read this book as soon as I'd finished and I recommend everyone to keep a copy handy, sheer brilliane

Great, but not her best!
I am a huge fan and was really looking forward to reading Watermelon as somehow it has been one of Marian's books which has evaded me. Whilst I enjoyed it I did not feel that it was one of her best, usually with Marian's books I can't put them down and ready them within a couple of days. I took this book on a pool holiday and it took me a whole week to read despite lounging by the pool. I am not too sure why this was but partly I don't feel the characters were easy to gel with and I found myself not really caring about what happened. Previous books have had me laughing out loud one moment and crying the next - this book did neither. Having said that I did still enjoy it and Marian's books are always easy to read which is just what you want for a pool or beach holiday - just lie back read!
