Works for Me
I’m using this with my Breville Barista Express BES870XL. It worked perfectly on my first try. I’m glad I purchased a good quality distributor/tamper tool previously. While using it, I don’t get any channeling and I get the pressure gauge to be just where I want it. As with any portafilter and filter basket, make sure they’re completely warmed up prior to use.

Excellent Bottomless Portafilter
Just got my bottomless portafilter for Breville Barista Touch. Fully satisfied. Well-built, fits my coffee machine no problem. The wooden handle looks beautiful. Can be dis-attached when you wash the metal part/s. Put some mineral oil on it, looks even better.Brewed my first espresso with it. Was able to get a decent shot. Keep in mind, bottomless portafilters can get messy. It all depends on your tamping skill. Try the original basket instead of the included one; might improve the result... Of course, do not use pressurised baskets with it.Downsides? Hard to tell... The handle screws out too easily. Make sure it is tightened enough.Have fun with your shots!

Great Wooden Handle, So so basket
Overall extremely happy with the quality of this bottomless portafilter. Weight is nice and handle quality/look is amazing.However keep in mind basket quality doesn't really follow. Although it has a better shape than stock basket and can fit up to 20g without putting coffee everywhere (stock I always max at 18.5g), the laser cut holes are not perfect and some are missing. I didn't buy this portafilter for its basket anyway ... so the 5 star review stands true since for me its a plus to have a spare piece. If you are also looking for a precision basket I def. recommend you buy a 3rd party one like IMS.

Finally someone has made a 54mm portafilter for us poor neglected Breville machine owners-Thank-you! Works great, looks great. The open bottom really helps with dealing in and assessing any puck issues. Waited for a long time for this item to be for sale. If you are a fellow 54mm owner then just buy this now!
