Yellow Jersey Red Rebels: The Glazers and the FC Revolution

A cracking read for all sorts of reasons
I bought this book ages ago but rarely getting the chance to read, lent it to a friend who leant it to another friend. I took it on holiday this Summer and having started it could hardly put it down.At a time when some United fans are (amazingly) waking up for the first time to the fact that the Glazer family and their hired hands like Ed Woodward don't care about trying to "knock City off their perch" but target a top 4 position and a few good cup runs to keep whittling away the debt they put on the club and keep taking huge dividends.Woodward in his wisdom has now decided he has the football knowledge and expertise to act as Direct of Football overruling a manager with cabinets packed full of trophies from four different leagues on football matters. In the book this is reflected in how at FC United Andy Walsh, with no relevant knowledge or expertise was allowed by the members of FC United to decide he was qualified to be CEO, head of Human Resources, building project leader and one man band in a club that was supposed to be one man one vote. It defies belief that this was allowed to happen by the members and the fans and that a supposed Trotskyite would hypocritically allow himself to become a petty East Manchester Stalin figure.I join in FC United booze ups but have been to less than a handful of matches ever. I do hope the club pulls through this and continues to give friends of mine the weekly footballing escape, relief and enjoyment United's commercialism and greed no longer offers them.In summation a very well written book chronicling a sad but fascinating period in United's history and almost the whole of FC United's.

Good but needs a small warning
A very well written book and I am sure most of it is true but it is worth noting that JP honestly admits in the book that he intended to ‘take down’ the CEO of FC United so it is also a tale of a personal vendetta. A good read all the same.
