Poor design.
This item arrived with a metal grip/handle which gets very hot with use. Does it take an engineering degree to know this is bad design? After my first use, I unscrewed the metal handle and replaced it with a piece of 1" diameter wooden dowel from Home Depot. It also has a small hole drilled in the press plate itself---presumedly for a temperature sensor. This seems kind of dumb (useless) but at least it doesn't burn my hand with use.

Rusts quickly
Yes it does its job but I’ve only used mine three times and its already rusting. Scared of puting this close to food for that reason. I only cleaned with water after use and then put in a dry place so not sure whats causing this.

Perfect Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
I did originally have some reservations about getting Chinese manufactured cast iron cookware due to scandals about lead contaminants, but after doing some research I found that the melting point of lead is well under that of iron so solid cast iron is very safe regardless of provenance, for anyone who might be concernded. The grill press is a good size to work with my Lodge skillet, it leaves some fancy looking stripes on the food when cooking and with it I've been able to make wonderfully flat very crispy grilled cheese sandwhiches with far easier clean up than any sandwhich press could hope to achieve. The screw securing the handle could use a little tightening I suppose but overall I am very well gruntled with this.

Great product, but get a bigger one if you can find it.
I only wish we had gotten a bigger one. Other than that, this thing is great. The bacon gets cooked more evenly. Just a tip, we cover the bottom of ours with non-stick tin foil and never have to clean it.

Five Stars
Good solid weight. Fits my 8 inch Lodge pan... perfect for burgers or chicken.
