A Thought-provoking Book for All Ages
I read this book before I gave it to my grandchildren and I just LOVED the message. Then my 12-year-old grandson read it to my 10-year-old granddaughter and they both told me they enjoyed it very much. Because the message is so clear, I donated a copy to their school's Kindergarten class because one is never too young to understand the joy of inclusion and the privilege of choice.

Great message for all kids
It’s no surprise this book has won awards. It’s a great message about the value of our differences. It mentions various ways we all differ from each other. It ends with a reminder that none of us should feel sad about the ways we’re different from others. The artwork is high-quality.I’m not a great fan of books that rhyme; the rhyming in this book is OK but the meter is a little awkward in places. Overall nothing too bad.If I had one wish to take this book from good to great, it’d be this: I wish it drew a little more on our empathy. It’s one thing to say “everyone has value.” It’s another to make us think about people who receive messages to the contrary, and how we can help those people. Kids who’ve been feeling bad about themselves would resonate better with a character in their same situation. Kids who’ve been unaware of other people’s situations would learn to watch for those situations and help out.I like to end book reviews with a summary of who’d be the best audience for the book. In this case, this is a good book for all young kids. It is probably targeted slightly more at kids who’ve felt excluded. But the kids who’ve never felt excluded should hear these messages too.

Great book
Although this book was written for elementary age children, my 4 year old granddaughter was very intrigued. This well written book about difference’s and kindness was a great introduction to inclusion. We focused on similarities and differences and friendship. My gd also enjoyed the stickers that came with book, they sparked curiosity about how the children could still play together dispute some differences.

Perfect children's book
Firstly, I want to say how my 3yo little boy responded to this book, he says, all the children love each other! This is why everyone should have this book!Such a beautiful read, with very valuable lessons. 'What if we were all the same' discusses diversity in abilities and appearances, encouraging kindness and understanding. The book not only teaches children to embrace differences in others, but to embrace themselves and love their individuality. The writing and illustrations are friendly for all ages, the content is bright, colourful and easy to follow. My little boy loves the pictures and the humour of the book, no sweets!? The book also encourages discussing what's different and beautiful about the reader, which made for a fun activity after reading as my little boy got to talk about what makes him special and what's special about some of his friends.C. M. Harris shares her personal experiences at the end of the book and I believe the authors story is inspiring and heartwarming. This is a wonderful book and I want to personally thank the author. 100% recommend.

What if our food were all the same? No meats! No sweets Just beets.
This book is a perfect way to introduce diversity to small children. It is so well written and you can tell that the author is writing from experience. She shares her personal story at the back of the book. My favorite part of the book in what I have written in the headline. It really gives you a new way to think about how important it is to have "different" in our lives.
