Perfect for starting seedlings
These were perfect for starting some seedlings for my vegetable garden indoors. I was having problems with birds raiding my garden and stealing sunflower, zucchini, peas and corn seeds right out of the ground just after planting. Also, bunnies or something else nibbling up pea shoots and pumpkin plants as soon as they sprouted above ground. So I did a second round of gardening, using these to get my sunflower, pea, corn, cilantro, zucchini and pumpkins going safely indoors first. Tip: get some trays to put these in, since they will get soggy from watering; once sprouts come up, put them outside during the day to soak up some sun, but bring in at night or else you may get foraging critters. Easy to transplant once they're ready; the roots grow through the peat pots, so all you have to do is dig a little hole and put either the whole thing or cut up the individual pots for planting.

Not worth the money
I recently purchased this starter kit to get a jump on planting a garden. This is my first time doing this, so while it is all new to me, I am extremely disappointed in the value of the product. I read the full description of the product but you know how it is once you see it in person. So, these cost me $27.99 and the value is maybe $5.00. After receiving these from Amazon, I was at Lowes and saw much nicer ones that were larger and sturdier for $2.49. These cells are only an inch square, so keep that in mind if buying. While I can get 150 starts from these cells, I will quickly need to put them into larger ones making these basically pointless. Amazon is not taking returns right now, so I'm sort of stuck with these; however, I would not purchase again for that kind of money.

Mold grew on all my trays, nothing sprouted
I was really excited about these since I’ve been germinating seeds in plastic containers and the transplanting process always seems so stressful for the little sprout.I’ve sprouted 15+ different types of seeds this year so far in the plastic starter trays as well as 6inch pots directly. The problem with this peat one is that the humidity makes mold grow like crazy. It is also much more flimsy but that was expected given the material.I always give the seeds a little sprinkle of water then cover it with plastic wrap to keep it moist. I waited ~6 days and discovered 2 of the 5 had severe mold everywhere - outside, inside, on the wrap, in soil. I dug around it a bit before throwing it out completely as it was unsalvageable and none of the seeds sprouted. Replanted the 2 seeds in my plastic starter trays. I did a little research online and it seems like this is common with peat pots - you really need good airflow and keep it dry. So I tried that with the remaining 3. The problem with that is the soil then dried out very quickly, and even then some mold still remained. Seeds also need a decently moist soil to start, so after 10+ days nothing sprouted still and I found myself frustrated at trying to keep the mold at bay vs soil moist enough. Apparently some online also said that even with peat pots you still need to cut off the bottom or sides when transplanting as not all roots are strong enough to grow through it.The first 2 I replanted has sprouted already in the plastic container using my old method. I’m now in the process of throwing out the last 3 and replanting them in the plastic trays as well. Just redid 2 today (dug around a bit before throwing out and as expected nothing sprouted).Overall the product itself seems solid, if you know a secret to making peat pots work or just never had this issue, this is a great product. It just really didn’t work for me. I’ll be going back to my plastic starter trays and just get better at transplanting!

Does the job well
I bought these to start seeds indoors to get a head start on growing season here in the high desert. The last time I tried it I lost 95% of the seedlings when transplanting so when I saw these biodegradable ones a light bulb went off. I put seed starter soil mix and seeds in each cavity, filled an old cafeteria tray with the trays, and put in a sunny window. I water them every morning carefully and the trays have held up very well even though they can get quite wet. They are easy to cut with regular scissors. I have already moved the lettuce seedlings outdoors without any loss! I will buy these again.

Great small size
I got these to start about 100 tiny cuttings of sedum that I got from another seller. They are the perfect size for this. We are attempting to convert our lawn to low maintenance by covering with ground cover instead of grass, and these will be perfect for transplanting into the yard once they get going.
