Piatkus Books The Sleepover: An absolutely gripping, emotional thriller about a mother's worst nightmare

Just OK.
Thought I would really like this book. Topic looked good but as I got into it I found the main character so annoying. She treated her 12 year old boy like a 5 year old. Even though he was bullied at one point in the past, she made it a daily reminder of his difficult time. No moving on for this gal. All the stroking and cuddling went a bit overboard. I love my children and my son was also bullied when young. But treating him as a baby wouldn't have helped him. I supported him and made him strong. Now a healthy, husband and father.

“Absolute page turner”
A really gripping novel that taps into every parent’s fear when the most simple and normal of events, a sleepover, goes horribly wrong. Samantha King masterfully weaves a story packed with twists, turns, secrets and lies against a backdrop of a conspiracy of silence. A terrifyingly realistic story of all the things we think we know about our children, social media and their relationships - but actually we probably don’t and what is revealed is devastating and thrilling. An unputdownable psychological thriller! Can’t wait to read Samantha King’s next book.”

Gripping stuff!
Fantastic thriller by Samantha King! I really enjoyed The Choice, so was looking forward to reading The Sleepover too. The great news is that The Sleepover doesn’t disappoint. It’s full of tension, suspense and twists, exactly what you’d want from a psychological thriller. The characters are carefully painted, and there is a very clever exploration of the psychological challenges of being a parent. I would highly recommend this novel. Gripping stuff!

A real page turner
I couldn’t put this book down and found myself staying up late at night to keep reading it. The plot is fantastic and left me constantly guessing what the next twist would be. It has a strong ending that is impossible to predict.I can’t wait to read the author’s next book that she mentions in the author’s q&a section at the end.Ps I feel like never letting my children go to a sleepover again!

Clunky narration, characters I didn’t root for, and plot twists that made no sense...
I was underwhelmed. I was immediately drawn in by the blurb - Izzy’s son goes to his first sleepover, and when she returns to pick him up in the morning he isn’t there. The story unfortunately didn’t live up to the premise, and was stalled by clunky narration, characters that I didn’t root for, and unpredictable plot twists that were only unpredictable because there was no previous foundation in the story to make these fit.I will probably fob this off on a charity shop. I wish the author all the best in future writing, but this book just wasn’t for me.If you want a book about parent's worst fears coming true, I'd check out Tina Baker's Call Me Mummy instead.
