Da Capo Press Marilyn's Last Words: Her Secret Tapes and Mysterious Death

Marilyn's own transcribed words!
This is absolutely the BEST book about Marilyn Monroe! I've read many books about Ms. Monroe, probably everything ever written about her...in English anyway! The author, Matthew Smith writes about Marilyn in a loving and beautiful way. He's sensitive to the memory of Marilyn, the transcripts of the tapes she made for Dr Greenson are included, but the author left parts out that he thought would have embarrassed Marilyn. To hear Marilyn Monroe speak of herself and her life, first hand, was amazing! She's articulate, well read, intelligent and introspective. After reading her own words about herself and those in her life then, it proves that she was in NO way suicidal! She had hopes and big plans for her future. Suicidal people don't have future hopes and dreams, they have no hope at all and this was not Marilyn's state of mind. She likely made those tapes and handed them over to Dr Greenson, just a few days before her tragic death. If you love Marilyn Monroe, this is a fun and excellent read! I recommend it highly!

Clearing up things
Though the tape portions of the book is scant, they clear up a lot of things. Also the tapes included are incomplete. Other books refer to portions of tapes that are not included in this book. All in all a great read. More truthful than most.
