NOT a quick kill.
I bought one of these at the local hardware store (for a lot higher price!) and successfully caught a rat in my backyard. I don't like to reuse traps since rats supposedly can smell a previous kill (sometimes even after washing the trap) so I was glad to find this six pack at a reasonable price. Well, I don't think that these were the same quality. The platforms were less sensitive and the baited traps were sometimes missing the bait, but not sprung. Very often the traps were sprung, though the bait was still in the cups. Were the rats able to wriggle out? The few "successes" did not kill the rats immediately. I, unfortunately, had to look for the squeaking rats whose heads were pinned in the traps and dragging it around the yard and finish them off myself. Not good! The force is NOT adequate for a quick kill. I need to find another more humane trap.

Design flaw?
We have rats in our garden for the first time in two decades (Southern California). The 410 Jawz traps have a strong spring and a hair-trigger. HOWEVER....we find the non-removable bait cups totally emptied of the peanut butter -- licked clean! -- with the trap still not sprung! How do they do that?? When we find the traps this way, we can tap the platform with a stick, and it snaps closed at the slightest touch. Nothing wrong with the trap.....or is there?Rats are really smart, and I think some of them have realized they can sneak in from the back of the trap, stand on the trigger mechanism, extend their heads through the arched opening, and eat all the peanut butter, and if it's their lucky day, they walk away without setting off the trap. This happens about 50% of the time.

Chipmunk infestation reduction mechanism
I picked up the 6 pack. In our little back yard have reduced the population by at least 20 in about 3 days of active trapping. I have two traps left after 20 reduction activities. The traps are excellent at doing their job. However, be sure to not "dry fire" them. Tripping the trap manually will almost surely destroy the trap as they are not designed to snap shut without something in the mouth of the Jawz. The force is too great for the plastic hinge. Be sure to place the trap on firm ground so the force of closing won't cause the trap to fly all over the place and possibly break. The only other concern I have is you can catch unwanted things in the yard. It only happened once for me, a bird, but I was able to free the bird and it survived and flew away.I suggest being home when you use these traps as you will catch things rapid fire! Also be home in the unlikely event of an unwanted animal is caught. For bait, I suggest using peanuts. Unshell the nuts and put one in the trap and sprinkle some of the shell around to lure them in.

Great results, but are they intended to be re-used?
Last year, I paid a rodent company $800 for 8 weeks and they came twice a week to check the traps that were put in a metal container to keep out nosy dogs and birds. They caught 30 which was worth it. So, I bought the identical equipment on Amazon and am using this year. Much smaller rodent population this time! However, the Jawz traps are not easily re-set? I thought the rodent company was able to re-use theirs? So, now I put on my plastic gloves, reach into the metal container pickup the trap with rodent, dump in plastic bag and into the garbage. The traps are reasonably priced on Amazon, so not a great expense, BUT has anyone had success in reusing them? They just don’t seem to “grab” with a 2nd reset?

Great for catching Chipmunks!
Best option I have found for Chipmunks - trapped almost 40 this past year. Recommend placing inside an upturned milk crate with cinder block on top to keep pets and kids away, or to keep the trap from being carried away by predators. Much easier to set than a standard rate trap (no pinched fingers). I use a few sunflower seeds in the dish. Mice seem to be able to either take the bait without setting it off or cause a false set if the trap but the chips do not fare as well!

Easy to set
I've been using Jawz mouse traps for a few years. I have both sizes and select the one that is compatible to the animal I'm trying to trap. I've caught mice, chipmunks and surprisingly, moles. Typically I use peanut butter. They're very simple to set and whatever has been caught can easily be released into the woods or garbage. So much easier to set than the older type mouse trap.

Justice served.
Fantastic. I had bought a single trap a few years ago and wreaked havoc on the pack rats around my house that were getting into things. I had a pack rat chew thru the fuel line of my truck on Tuesday night, I ordered these Wednesday, arrived Saturday. I baited them and put them out and justice was served within an hour after sunset when they come out! I got another one over night. This product does not disappoint.

Effective defense of garden
For chipmunks and mice in a garden with vegetables and flowers feom bulbs usingpeanut butter, peanuts, blue berries and strawberries as bait. Easy to set up, add bait before setting easily, snaps into set position with some movement of trigger plate which is easy to safely hold open. Have tried many other types. This is very effective design. Bought more.

Well they worked
They did their job...which is good for our attic, but not for the rats. Well made and durable, easy to set and load with bait.
