My favorite GF baker finally shares her recipes!
I’ll start by saying I’m not gluten free. But after having some of Jennifer Fisher’s baked goodies at a friend’s baby shower I had to know where she got them! I couldn’t believe the baker lived in the same town as me! Fast forward a few years, I’ve ordered Jennifer’s special GF treats to have at so many parties I’ve hosted and NO one had a clue they were GF. That’s my favorite part! They are just THAT good! I’m so excited to dig in to more recipes. Just be patient and order the flours to make her blend and then the rest is easy! Thanks Jennifer for sharing so many amazing recipes with the world!!

Making the Most of Our Health
Not an easy skill / science - baking without gluten. And for those with the highest (unreasonable) of expectations, Big D, maybe take into consideration the fact that achieving such a level of success while remaining healthy is something of a miracle. This book has made my life, and that of my little girl, all the better. Thank you Ms Fisher for elevating the baking world. Bravo!

The best gluten free recipe book on the market!
This is the first recipe book that actually tastes as good as the old tried and true “secret” gluten recipe items passed down through family generations! Also contains recipes for specialty items you just won’t believe are gluten free! It really is an awesome recipe book!

Mouthwatering recipes!
This cookbook is a great addition to the kitchen of anyone who has a gluten sensitivity or intolerance!Jennifer Fisher starts out by explaining her journey with GI issues (some of which I could relate to). She offers educational information about gluten, explains some of the ingredients regularly used in the recipes, and details some important cooking and baking techniques. The recipes are well-detailed and, while I’ve only made two from this so far (I will make more!), I can say that they were easy to make and the instructions were clear. The cookbook contains several mouth-watering pictures to go along with the recipes as well!To date, I’ve prepared the Cheesy Rice Casserole and the Fluffy Pancakes. The casserole was irresistible and I was grateful for leftovers! It was also one of the easiest things I’ve ever prepared. I, personally, did not love the overall flavor of the pancakes, but there are two things worth mentioning: My husband thought they were fantastic and, upon realizing that I’d forgotten to buy a lemon, I had to use lemon juice concentrate in the recipe. I can’t say for sure if that second piece of information is completely relevant to how I felt about the flavor, but I’m definitely willing to try the recipe again with fresh lemon juice. They were completely edible (and I’ve tried recipes in the past that weren’t!), so I definitely won’t write them off.I’m eager to try more from this cookbook. There are really so many tantalizing recipes! At the top of my list to make are: Creamy White Chicken Enchiladas, Steak Sandwiches With Creamy Horseradish Sauce, Garlic Butter Naan, and Mexican Pizza! As soon as I’m able, I’d like to get myself a physical copy of this cookbook!I am immensely grateful to DK Publishing for my digital review copy through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.Surprise! It’s Gluten-Free is currently available in hardcover and will be out in paperback on July 20, 2021!

Needs More Photos, But Great Recipes
Surprise! It's Gluten Free!: Entrees, Breads, and Desserts so Delicious You Won't Know What's Missing is a good cookbook that introduces gluten-free eating in a way that is both welcoming and approachable. The beginning of the cookbook talks about the inflammatory issues that gluten can cause in some individuals, hidden sources of gluten in everyday foods, techniques, troubleshooting, flour blending, and what to avoid. The author scatters tips and store-it hints throughout the cookbook that are particularly good. I wish there were more photographs, as they would serve as inspiration for those new to the lifestyle. The recipes are divided into interesting sections, which I have listed below with some of the standouts.Wheat-Free Mornings: Chewy Granola Bars; Traditional English Muffins; Flaky Sour Cream Biscuits; Donuts 5 WaysFish & Poultry Mains: Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut with Mango Salsa; Creamy White Chicken Enchiladas; Baja Fish Tacos; Chicken ParmesanPork & Beef Mains: Heavenly Dijon Pork Chops; Mama's Enchilada Pie; Classic Beef StroganoffFlour-Free Sides & Soups: Mom's Cheesy Potatoes; Cheesy Rice Casserole; Taco Soup; Loaded Baked Potato SoupPerfect Pizzas & Breads: Easy Peasy Pizza Crust; Flour Tortillas; CornbreadSweet Loaves, Muffins & Scones: Banana Nut Bread; Morning Glory Muffins; Blueberry Muffins; Coffee Shop Maple SconesPies & Fruity Desserts: Buttery Pie Crust; Mock Cherry Cheesecake; Apple CrispCakes & Cupcakes: Black Forest Cupcakes; Red Velvet Cake; Lemon Pound Cake; Country Fair Funnel Cakes; Vanilla CupcakesBrownies & Cookies: Fudgey Brownies; Oat Bars; Sugar Cookies; Russian Tea Cake CookiesSurprise! It's Gluten Free! has a great mix of recipes and is very inspiring, but the lack of photographs does hold this cookbook back. Overall, I would recommend it to other readers for its depth of finished dishes.Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy of Surprise! It's Gluten Free!: Entrees, Breads, and Desserts so Delicious You Won't Know What's Missing by NetGalley and the publisher, Alpha. The decision to review this cookbook was entirely my own.
