Fantastic read
This is a captivating story of love, fate, tragedy and yearning for home. Augusta Hope is a middle class teenager from small town England yearning for something more than her mediocre life. Parfait is a young man yearning to save his family from his war torn country of Burundi. Their stories and lives merge on a beach in Spain.

beautiful and uplifting
I loved this book so much i bought it for my sister too. It's set in a typical estate, with typical kind of families in england. One of these houses belong to a couple with twin daughters, one of them being Augusta, who are polar opposites. Augusta has always felt different from the rest of her family and loves reading, and especially reading facts. She can not wait to leave this boring life behind and travel the world! As the girls grow, her twin wants nothing more than to stay and get married to her childhood sweetheart and have kids. But we don't always get what we want in life and one fateful day on holidays abroad changes her twin forever. At the same time, a boy living in africa wants nothing more than to leave his violent, oppressive country and get to europe for a better life. The journey there is fraught with danger and will change his life forever. Their two worlds collide and result in consequences that neither could have imagined. It's often sad but very uplifting and beautiful and i loved the way in which it was written. It's also quite funny! I was hooked from the start.

Highly recommend
Augusta, the protagonist of this wonderful book loves words and it is clear from the writing style that the author loves words too. I’m an avid reader and I voraciously consumed this narrative and then felt sad it was finished. Some books I read to fill time waiting for the next good book. This book was a literacy pleasure. A coming of age story. Augusta feels out of place within her family; a square peg in a round hole. The chapters alternate with the voice of the other main character.Augusta has a twin and her life follows a contrasting path to Augusta.Whilst growing up, Augusta dreams of unknown places, hankering after the place or person where she will “fit”.I do not want to spoil the plot or your pleasure with this golden read. Read it soon. I’m waiting for more from the same author

Probably the most beautiful book I’ve ever read
I loved this book from the very first page and even though I tried to read it slowly, and was on a busy holiday at the time, I finished it in 3 sittings. The characters are wonderful and the author really makes you care about them so much. I think I must have experienced just about every emotion there is whilst reading this book. I am not going to say any more because my feelings about this book are almost beyond words, but I am going to buy it for everyone I love.I don’t know what on earth I am going to read now - nothing can match up to Augusta and her story. Thank you, Joanna Glen! Please write more books soon!!!
