Make Your Own Sunshine: Inspiring Stories of People Who Find Light in Dark Times

~~Choose Hope~~
A truly inspirational book about life and its challenges. It will make one think about the important things in life and tug at your heart will reading all of the stories. Based on interviews and memories from friends, this is truly a book one needs to read in today's world. With the pandemic occurring and the gloom and the doom being told on the news....day in and day out....it is so refreshing to read these stories of hope, inspiration and perseverance. This is a 'feel good' book and will make you smile throughout. One of my favorites was from a few years ago and was about Alice Mayn from Santa Rosa, CA. 'Teaching Older Dogs new tricks' was the title of the section. Alice rescued older dogs and was fortunate to rescue Lily. My goodness what a dog Lily was and offered so much to Alice in return. She was a Golden Retriever and Lily's Legacy is named after her. What a beautiful place for the older dogs to romp and swim and above all, feel young again...The book has so many wonderful stories in it which shine a light on helping others. Kindness is infectious, as you know, and one act sets a chain reaction into motion. The author calls this the 'ripple effect'.A friend of the author, Jen (Nurse Practitioner), told her that 'resilience is only developed through adversity. I choose hope'.' One should also remember that the simplest and most satisfying things in life are free. A kind word, a kind deed can go so far in today's world.Absolutely loved her bicycle story near the end. What a remarkable birthday gift and amazing how much joy it has brought to her entire family.Perfect book for these trying times we are living in today. I choose hope, I really do. Uplifting and inspirational..Most highly recommended.

A Must Read
What a nice book. Once I started reading it, I had to start my mornings with these stories. Usually I would turn the tv on and that would start my day. Janice’s book brought good-feeling days to me every day. Quiet reading and absorbing all the sunshine. I highly recommend this book to anyone. Thank you Janice for writing it and Fox News for advertising it. I will refer back to it when I need my spirits lifted. My husband is beginning his journey with Alzheimer’s so everyday is a gift for us. I thank God for all our blessings. Please read.

Awesome Book!!!!!
Hated when I had to put this book away to go to sleep!!! Really makes a person realize that it doesn't take a lot of time, or money, to bring a bit of sunshine into someone's life!!! I LOVE paying for the car behind me at the drive-thru!!!! But then have to drive away real fast, so they don't feel they have to thank me!!!! Just a little sunshine!!!!!!!!!

Really beautiful stories.
A light read, but an important one during a time when many people are communicating with anger, hostility and unkindness towards others. I enjoyed reading about kind people doing compassionate things for theirs neighbors and fellow community members.

Heartwarming, uplifting human gifts to others…loved it!
Beautifully told very short, true stories of kindnesses and everyday human ‘miracles’ gifted to those who need them, sometimes from those who need them more. Loved this book to be able to pick up when I needed a lift and put down when I got busy. Janice’s personal family COVID losses allow her to deeply understand what others have gone through, during the pandemic and beyond.

Try to follow the sun!
Make your own Sunshine in a short stories format was a great way for me to pick it up when I especially needed to hear a feel good story. The ones that were personal for me were the Ray Pfiefer story. As the daughter of a retired FDNY firemen, I had also had two Massapequa Park friends in the FDNY pass from 9/11. One on 9/11, and one from cancer this year from the affects of working on the Pile. My daughter attended UF and graduated in 2010 at the same time as Tim Tebow. He was such an inspiration on and off the field. We continue to follow and root for Tim in all he does. Thanks for writing this Janice! Keep Smiling!

What a Neat Book!
If you are looking for a refreshing, optimistic, positive-thinking book, this is the one for you.It is simply a "feel good" book that helps reinforce the belief that people can be really good.I think it will surprise a lot of liberals to find that the author works for Fox News. Yes, conservatives can be nice, optimistic, kind, and thoughtful people!
