Dale DeGroff's Pimento Aromatic Bitters - 150 ml

Needed this difficult-to-find product for a Lion’s Tail cocktail. Definitely allspice in flavor, but subtly so. Not sure what else I’ll use it for (holiday baking?), but very pleased I bought it. And the drink turned out great!

A quite distinct taste in a Manhattan vs Angostura bitters, and I like it a lot better. Definitely levels up the whole experience. Great job making this stuff!

These bitters are on clove side. Very aromatic

Cocktail geeks get into the game and throw their name on products all the time and often it's just a brand-experiment.This one isn't such a thing. This is quite good and Dale DeGroff is a wonderfully respected figure in the cocktail world so I'm happy that his bitters really are a cut above. It's aroma is just a tad heavier than many bitters so if you're accustomed to 3-4 dashes of, Angostura, for example, try just 1-2 dashes of Dale's bitters. It's nicely potent. My favorite part of having this in my bar is that since I'm largely a classic, pre-prohibition cocktail enthusiast I like traditional recipes but don't mind a respectful twist... nothing drastic, but change can be good as long as it's in keeping with the original recipe. Any beloved cocktail like a Manhattan, Old Fashioned, even the Sazerac (think about the potency of Peychaud's bitters) and this slips right in for that something special when you want a change. It's on the shelf next to the tried-and-true gold standards. Love it.
