Great quality, good carrier oil
I had only seen Tamanu oil in passing (on labels) buy looked it up after I saw it here. It is supposed to have a number of benefits for skin, making it healthier. Since I only know a little bit I am not going to risk passing on information which might not be accurate. I will say that it makes a nice carrier oil and I made up a serum with other oils I have gotten from Greenwood. I am very impressed with the quality of their oils. Most are cold pressed, not chemically extracted. They arrived fresh, and with an expiration date, which you will not see from companies which are not as careful. It is shipped with a plug, which prevents leakage and oxidation, and comes with a dripper cap which works very well.If you are purchasing essential oils for skin preparations, Tamanu is a very good one to explore, and Greenwood's is very nice. I have enjoyed their oils so much that I have several more on order, and others I will be purchasing in the future. Most essential oils can not be applied directly to skin. They are too potent. The way to use them is with a couple of drops in a carrier oil. I generally use avocado oil or almond oil as the carrier. They are both nice, light oils which do not leave you feeling sticky. Tamanu also makes a good carrier oil and one with added healing benefits.

fights bacteria, evens skin tone.
Tamanu oil has been used in traditional medicine for hundreds or perhaps thousands of years for a range of ailments. Scientific research has recently discovered evidence proving it to be effective:• Current research has confirmed to be a safe topical solution, and it has been found to have wound healing and antibacterial properties in low concentration, (but can cause cell damage in high concentration).• Research has shown tamanu oil to exhibit antibacterial activity against bacterial strains involved in acne.• Ongoing research is looking into using tamanu oil to develop new antibiotics to treat skin infections. This product arrived in an amber glass bottle, packed into a little cardboard box. The cap is plastic with no childproof saftey lock, so it is easy to open. There is a dropper cap provided which you insert into the bottle to more easily administer/apply the oil - this is less convenient, but is a cheaper option. The tamanu oil itself has a brownish colour which is normal for this kind of oil. It has a slightly pungent smell which reminds me of a massala paste, which I find a little unpleasant but also quite normal. The oil seems pure and of good quality but I have no way to verify this for sure. This oil is advertised as a carrier oil, which usually means you can apply it directly to skin and not need to dilute it. But because the research suggests that this oil can harm cells in high contrition, and that benefits were observed at very low concentrations, I dilute this oil in some natural almond oil, and apply it as a face mask - wear for about 20 minutes and then wash off.Hypothetically, this oil helps to fight the bacteria which can infect skin and cause acne. I have noticed a significant improvement in the tone of my skin since I started using this in a mask: my skin feels smoother, more even, brighter, clearer and healthier. I think this is also due to the moisturising nature of the almond oil but I do think the tamanu has really helped.

Hard to get out of the bottle
This oil reminds me of Argon Oil, as it has a similar fragrance. However unlike Argon this is maybe not suited to being dispensed via a bottle in a cold country like the UK. In the cold climate, like coconut the oil slightly solidifies making it impossible to pour. This will of couse change in the summer when the oil will melt.In it's natural. form the oil is slightly yellow of has a green/black tinge. This worried me at first, as did the very earthy smell. After looking it up this is totally normal and how its supposed to be.I think it smells like walnuts. Honestly, it's not a nice smell so you'd definitley want to mix this with a more fragrant essential oils and creams if using on your skin. This is used as an anti aging when mixed with other components, or as an anti inflammatory on red or angry skin. It can be used on psoriasis, ezcema. I also read that it can help prevent sun damage (although I would definitly not rely on that anicdotal evidence to stop sunburn). It's intended to be used and an ingredient in skin care preperations and not as the main component. I did try this on painful dermatitis, and it does moisurise and soothe, but as an oil it quickly wore off, so you definitely neeed to mix this with a cream that has longevity,

Overpriced
Pure but not organic, I expect organic for this price. The quality seemed okay, but I have questioned certain products from the company in the past and received no response so my confidence in the quality and composition of their products is pretty low.

A really lovely oil
This oil is Cold Pressed Pure Tamanu Oil. The beauty of this type of oil is there is no need to mix it with a carrier oil so it can be applied directly to the skin. What attracted me to this product originally was the fact they are pure, natural, therapeutic grade, and undiluted. It is incredibly important that the product is pure and undiluted. This is something to look out for in other brands. The only one negative I did find was the bottle comes with a little plastic dropper nozzle that you have to insert yourself. I did this but couldn't get any oil to come out. My husband fiddled with it and tried to make the hole wider with a knife but it still didn't work so in the end I resorted to pulling it out and just have to try and drip it directly from the bottle. The only struggle with that is you tend to get too much oil out in one go.I researched the benefits of Tamanu oil and discovered it is particularly beneficial for acne, scars, damaged skin, and wrinkles/dry skin. I am a 46yr old lady and have recently been concerned about the skin on the backs of my hands looking dry and 'older'. Apparently, your hands can give your age away lol! So anyway I thought I'd give this oil a bash to see if I could see improve the look. Here are my results:Although the skin on my hands doesn't look enormously different on the pics, I can definitely say the skin feels so soft and smooth. I apply a few drops every day and will continue to do so to see if the effects get even better. Lovely oil!
