For the price...it's a good knife. I bought it to keep in my camping bag. The only things I needed was the knife itself and the "harpoon". The rest of the supplies is not useful to me. I removed most of it and used the room to store cotton for starting campfires. Yes, you will need to spend some time to put an edge on it and sharpen the blade, but for the price....you can't beat it.

Groovy knife for the memories.
First of all I want to say that I bought this knife for 2 reasons...1 was because I had a similar knife back in the mid to late 80s and wanted this for the sake of memory.2 was / is because overall this IS a good knife to have and I always liked it.The sheath itself seems to be made of hard plastic with a metal thing on the bottom that has a small flat screwdriverand an attachment point for the knife blade to use as a wire cutter. The downside of this is that the hole in the blade didnt fit well enough to allow the blade to turn.Also...The version of this knife I owned back in the mid to late 80s had a slingshot bracket set up on that metal piece...This version doesnt. It does still have the tracks where the brackets would fit when folded though. Not a big deal if only because the major criticism I would have said back then about it is that the brackets had a bad habit of comminback down on you because of recoil when you used the slingshot. The strap is nylon with an adjustable snap loop for your belt / pack and the sheath has a tie down for your leg / pack.Inside the sheath is the signal mirror which also housed the harpoon with a length of white string tied to itand a wire saw with 2 handles. The knife I had originaly also had this with the exception that the old version of the harpoon had a dull / blunt tip that was a pain to sharpen. Not so with this version...The tip is already sharp. The harpoon also has holes drilled in it to allow for lashin and a bottle opener / flat blade screwdriver on the other end of it.Now...Ive used the wire saw from the original version I had and I remember it breakin within just a few seconds of use. This one seems to be of the same level of quality / usefullness. The signal mirror looks like the one I used to have although you may want to polish it up a bit as mine camewith some tarnish on it.It IS stainless steel from what I can tell just as the 1 I had before was so Im assumin the tarnish is just from havin been in the sheath.I did have to bend in slightly 2 of the prongs on it to allow for easier insertion and removal. The mirror itself would work Im sure but in any case it still serves to hold the harpoon and to make the knife fit more snugly in the sheathwith the added assistance of a length of nylon that fits between the mirror and the blade. The nylon is an integral part of the strap.Inside the knife handle is the compass which is in the cap.It is loose which aint a bad thing as it can be used more easily with maps. The cap itself has a shoestring to serve as a sorta lanyard for your wrist.Between the compass and the container was the Small piece of cotton.I dont know if this was meant to just act as a cushion between the compass and the containeror if it was also meant to serve as emergency fire tender BUT its such a small amount that it wouldnt make for good tender in my opinion. The plastic container has the morse code printed on it and contains the following...2 Small saftey pins.Small razor blade.Fishing kit.Small plastic pencil with 1 extra lead.Little rod ???2 BandaidsWhistle / BlackThe saftey pins are usefull for tiny attachments I reckon.Since I have larger ones already...I wont be usin these. The small razor blade might be usefull...I dont know.I already have and carry a multitool knife with a sharp blade so wont be keepin this in the container.I havent opened the fishin kit yet BUT if its anything like the 1 I used to have then Id say its at least moderatly usefull for emergency fishing.Even so...I wont be includin this kit in what Id normaly carry since I dont do a lotta fishing anyways. The plastic pencil is in my opinion usefull in an emergencyBUT since I carry a pen and notepad with me as part of my EDC then I dont see much use for it.I have no idea what the thin little rod is for...Doesnt spark like a magnesium rod and Im pretty sure it aint lead...Maybe someone else has figured it out ???The 2 bandaids are always good to have EXCEPT because they was rolled up around the other items in the container...I aint sure their adhesivness is any good still.Im currently tryin to flatten them out again and may test them. The whistle I used to have was chrome while this 1 is black...Not an issue. They both work and so Ill be includin it in my EDC.The knife blade has a saw on the spine which is very usefull...At least in regards to the 1 I used to have.I havent tested this one yet.The blade is sharp and comes to a spearpoint. The knife handle itself is also metal which is always a plus in my book.I used to use the knife to break up branches and / or cut them the saw.The cap of the one I used to have made an expediant hammer and Im assumin this one will also. All in all I give this knife 4 stars with the 5th one bein withheld because of the items included which I considered useless to meAND because of the subtle differences between the original I used to have and this one.1 thing I forgot to mention was the sharpening stone built into the sheath...Its a good stone Id say...At least in refference to the knife I used to have BUT its flat with the sheath makin it uselessfor sharpening the knife itself because of the length of the blade.Havin said that...It would still be good for sharpening smaller length knife blades at least untill you wore it down too much.

I was looking more for a sturdy "survival knife" where the knife is not going fall ...
It is cheap. Its in a plastic sheath. The snap holding the knife into the sheath keeps coming unsnapped. I was looking more for a sturdy "survival knife" where the knife is not going fall out if I happen to hit the snap when I might not be paying attention, not an "adventurer knife". My mistake. I contacted the vendor and they said send it back. I paid shipping fees once to get it here. Now I should pay shipping fees again to get rid of it. I don't think so, I will just throw it in a junk drawer in the garage and find a real "survival knife" somewhere else.

pretty good for a back up.
Well worth the money spent, my only complaint is that it fits very loosely in the sheath. & no instructions on how to use the harpoon.
