Nice Childrens Book
In present day young Robin 12yrs lived near Sherwood Forest, there was a storm and a large tree was up rooted, the next day Robin finds the skeleton of a man under the roots, he also finds some weapons, he faints and the story jumps to young Robin who hunts the Kings deer with his father, the meat would be given to the poor, Robin had been taught the bow by his father and this was his first kill, the sherifs men appeared, Robin was told to run while his father held them off, Robin hid in a caveA woman, Marion found him and said his father was alive, outside the cave the valley was full of people, they were all outlaws and Robin was invited to live with them deep in the forest, these outlaws were waiting for King Richard to return, Robin goes alone to rescue his father, he succeeds but his father had been blinded, riding fast to the forest the outlaws are waiting and kill the sheriffs men chasing him, Sir Guy with many men went to find the outlaws but found nothing, from then on any traveler in the forest was taxed and the money used for the poor and King Richards ransomThe story continues much the same as any already known except Robin marries Marion early on and they have a son, Martin

I bit different for Michael Morpurgo, but still a great read. I have read it and will pass it on to my Grandson when he is old enough to read it himself
