I bought this to use in my car. Sometimes I am sitting in my car for long periods after dark (such as if I’m taking one of my kids somewhere semi far away, I have no errands to run, and they will be ready to go in like an hour) and I like to read. Holding my phone to read is obnoxious and putting a regular flashlight in my car doesn’t work well when it gets really hot or really cold so I figured I’d try this one.I love the fact it’s got a solar panel. I keep it in the center console face up so it can charge when I’m not using it. I started using it shortly after I got it and the battery life is pretty decent. I definitely appreciate that it doesn’t complete shut off when it’s starting to die. Once the light starts dimming, I just take it and wind it for 60-90 seconds and it’s good for another 5-10 mins.The clip on the end is also incredibly helpful. That allows me to hang it on the little hook in my car (that I think is meant for hanging a clothes hanger perhaps) so I don’t have to hold it while I read.It’s a little noisy when cranking/winding it but personally I enjoy the noise. It reminds me of a party toy. I’m pretty sure most people would find that annoying though. But at least you don’t need to wind it for too long before you can use it. (You do need to wind/crank it for at least a full 60 seconds if you want the light to last for more than 1 minute.)
