Simple Flyer Alpha Pilot Headset Flight Bag (Black)

Larger than I anticipated - in a good way.
It's larger than I expected, but very well organized and actually "right sized". It holds a...bag load...of stuff.- I have my three fold kneeboard with my 9.7" iPad in the large front pocket, along with a 10,000 mAh battery and my log book. This pocket also has room for approach plates if needed.- I have my headset as well as my Stratux ADS-B "in" and a 6000 mAh battery in the center pocket.- I have four sectionals, an enroute chart, a whiz wheel, plotter, pen, divider and spare portable radio battery in the large back pocket.- The pair of outer side pockets on one side hold a portable VHF NAV/COM radio and a headset adapter. The two small pockets on the other side have my sunglasses (in their case) and a mini mag light flash light. The larger of the two pockets on each side have a draw string and cord lock to snug up the mouth of the pocket. However, there are also D-rings above the pockets, so you can loop the cord through the D-ring and hook it back over the cord lock, which secures the radio or whatever in place, making the pocket very secure. One of the big wins is that it's still reasonably low key and doesn't scream "Look at me! I'm a pilot!". Instead people will think you just carry a really large purse or man purse with an antenna sticking out of it.The thin, zippered pockets on the front and back are a near miss and one of the few negatives. The lining inside the pockets stops about an inch and a half above the bottom of the bag. I have no idea why they did it that way. If the pockets were just a half inch deeper the pockets would accommodate an 8"x 4 1/2" Van Dusen style log book, and/or a full size E6B. As it is they are an opportunity lost. I keep my passport in one, and spare contacts and lens wipes in the other. So close, yet just too short...The other potential "negative" is that my bag fully loaded now weighs 12.0 pounds. It has replaced my larger flight bag for any flight that doesn't require multiple approach plates, IFR charts and a change of clothes. However it's not as small and light as I was originally going for planning on just a headset, kneeboard, iPad and a chart or two. But this is better....I'm going to look to see if the company sells a large flight bag. If they do, I'm going to get it as I could probably fit my Citabria in it and save $200 a month in hangar rent.

Revised review - headphone pouch opening too tight
Revised 3/18/2021:After a few weeks using this bag, I noticed that the zippered pouch for my headset was too tight, for easy use. The sippers only unzip a little bit down the sides, do the opening is always tightly closed. I found this bag to be usable for other things, and I do need to carry more than a headset, but since I need a headset bag, I sent it back and purchased this: https://www.amazon.com/Flight-Gear-Crosswind-Bag/dp/B08TT5T7QG/ instead.Another complaint I have about the bag was the placement of the pen slots in one of the pouches. They are too close to the top, making it so that any pall-point pens with a push button style on the top are always pressed, leaking ink or contaminating the pen tip. Most probably don't care about this. But they would definitely be too close to the top for a new pencil, and I always use pencil on the flight deck.Original review:Enough storage for kneeboard, logbook, headset, gum, sunglasses, two drinks, and much more!My headset fits in the center storage area with plenty of room. The headset came with it's own carrying case, and this case is about 3 or so inches larger in width and height. This means there is some room to spare around the headset in the main compartment.

The perfect flight bag!
I found the simpleflyer bag to be very durable and made out of a great material! It has lasted several trips already and is not too large to bring in small aircraft, yet it fits everything necessary to fly with between water bottles, headset, iPads etc. It even has several super handy compartments for smaller items such at pilot documents and pen holders! Would recommend this bag to anyone looking for a handheld bag for flight training and beyond!

Value for money!!!
Wow! This is awesome flight bag for the price! Size is just nice for a small airplane, with side pockets for handheld VHF (large icom A25N in the photo) and a water bottle! Compartment for headset is huge! My Zulu 3 is a BIG headset and it fits in there with lots of space to spare! Back panel doc and stationery was a nice surprise. I could slot an 11” iPad Pro in there, might fit a 13” too! I could even pack an overnight trip in the middle compartment. Construction looks like it will last a while!

New favorite flight bag
I was using a much larger flight bag as I went through commercial time building. Now that I'm a CFII, I no longer need to bring quiet as much with me on lessons so i decided to buy a more compact flight bag. This is amazing and fits everything I need: log book, Bose A20 headset (in it's original bag) and two tablets.
