I've had one of these braces for over 10 yrs for my left knee. My orthopedist told me it was only a matter of time before my other knee would hurt and middle age spread/living in a 4th floor walk up flat for the last year made both of my knees very unhappy. The air was blue from the swearing between the "ouches." I had tried the store brand - guess what, bare neophrene makes my leg have a brace shaped rash with a knee hole and didn't provide the stability I needed to keep my wandering kneecap in its groove. I don't remember how I found the one for my left knee but when my right knee started hurting, I went straight to Amazon to find another P3. I wear them when I work out (elliptical - people with this condition should not take step classes or use a Stairmaster) and today we're putting Christmas decorations away, upstairs and my knees do not hurt going up or down. I know $170 seems like a shocking price to pay for a brace, but I went through several other brands and wasted money. I'd like to replace the old one but it still does its job so I can live with mismatched braces (design has changed a bit since last centrury). I have bought other Bauerfeind products and think they make the best OTC braces you can find.

I wear the P-3 knee brace on both knees while playing tennis (8+hours/week) They provide excellent support and have helped me delay knee replacement. I have tried 12-15 other braces and the P-3 works best for me.
