I saved 4k, easy install. Work great!
I installed unit in a mobile home. We had 100 degree plus heat for an entire month. It was no problem for Mr Cool. I couldn't rate tech support because install was simple and it has not had any problems.

Great then failed
The Mr Cool 36k DIY was easy to install in just a few hours and ran great for almost a year. I noticed that the unit was no longer cooling and unfortunately it was at the beginning of a long heat wave. I hired an HVAC teck to assess and he told me that I was low on refrigerant and saw evidence of a coil leak. I opted to recharge the system and after $354.00 I was up and going again. The tech told me to file a warranty claim as a repair would likely exceed the cost of the unit.Mr COOL Customer service responded back withing 2 days and asked for pictures, receipts and the technicians report. Then no response for a week. They wrote back and said they’d refer me to a warranty technician. A week later a technician requested the same pictures, receipts and technicians report. Finally a rep informed me that my claim was being submitted for a condenser unit replacement. When I was finally contacted to inform me that my condenaor warranty replacement had been approved, I was told that it would not ship until I paid $375 for shipping. After playing phone tag with customer service to make payment my unit was finally shipped. Customer service would call and leave aMessage but their voice mail did not received messages. From start to finish, this process took over a month and a half and they didn't seem concerned at all that I was in the middle of a heat wave with not reprieve.Mr. COOL has the worst coatomer service that I've ever experienced. That fact that I had to pay $375 for shipping of a replacement unit for a unit that wasn't even a year old is not acceptable. Not a fan and I'd never buy from Mr. Cool again.

Good product at fair price
Installed in September used in fall and winter (extreme north central state). Seems to work good, it used as 3rd heat source in shop. Typically electric heat has not been cost effective, however my local electric provider offers amazing discounts to be on a load cycling program. Shop is 1500 sq feet well insulated. Not sure Mr. Cool could support whole shop alone, but works great for quick comfort heat. In my climate, I would not use as primary heat, but perfect backup. Works great on cooling side also.

Excellent Service. Technician was very knowledgeable and was very helpful.
Bought two 3 ton units for mechanic shop. Wasn't sure if after the first day if they were going to be enough to heat the shop. The technician helped me with all of the calibrations and settings to get the units to there full protentional. Great Service!

Works as expected
This unit works as expected. Installed in 1400 sqft mobile home. Cools exceptional well and heats about as I expected. I use the heat pump to to supplement my wood stove and propane heater. I really like this unit and it's extremely energy efficient. It is powered by by my offgrid solar system. 2-5000 watt inverters and 20kwh of batteries.

Ok but I wish I'd shopped the other brands.
First, mine is the 36000 btu which requires 8 ga. wire. The buss bar on the outside unit has connection screws so small it took some creativity on my part to attach the wire. My guess is that they use the same buss bar for all sizes regardless of wire ga. requirement. Next, there are 3 controllers. Wall mount, remote control, and smart phone app. Each of the three have functions the other two do not. The room temp. sensor is mounted inside the inside unit itself and does not accurately measure room temp. After a lot of trial and error, I set the thermostat on 86° to achieve a room temp in the mid 70s. A remote room temp sensor would be nice. They so have something called a "follow me" function on the remote control, but it does not address the above mentioned issue. Attached is a screenshot of the smart phone app. Note that it states room temp at 76 but it is actually only 69°. In summary, I hope the quality on this is better than the engineering.
