Solid wood, easy to install & reasonably priced.
Bought for my husband as Christmas gift. He’s been fishing his whole life and has a variety of reels & rods at various prices. He’s pretty particular and quite frankly picky about most gifts he receives. I assumed he’d return it. Much to my amazement he really likes the natural solid wood. The finish Is quality and is glossy but not shiny. Installation was easy; but he’s handy with most things like this and home projects. He put it in cottage for his good rod and reels. The only issue was the poles not staying in at the top. So he just put two small nails at each end of the top piece and attached a bungee cord to the nails at both ends Works perfect now. We thought the price for a solid wood rod holder was very reasonable and goes well in cottage. Would definitely purchase again. Oh, the 4 stars for sturdiness is only due to the top piece, but as I wrote it’s easily fixed.

Form Over Function...
It’s definitely one of the better looking fishing rod racks I’ve seen but I can’t say it’s the sturdiest or most practical without a little modification but I knew this going into it based on other reviews. The wood isn’t high quality but it works.I would recommend fastening it to another board like I have if you’re installing it on anything that isn’t perfectly even or flat or the wood could split. The top of the rack also doesn’t hold the rod tips securely in place without a little modification which I also assumed going into it but this is easily fixed with a quick trip to Home Depot for some small plates to make a little door. It’s definitely a form over function application but it definitely looks better than most of the cheap plastic racks. So with that “glowing endorsement” you at least know why you’re getting into.

Does not install or work as advertised.
First of all, the screw anchors are nothing I have ever used before. They are like a plastic dowel that you put in the drywall but there is nothing to anchor it. They also do not expand when you screw the screw into it like an anchor should. Threw them out and used real drywall anchors. Secondly there is a design flaw. I mounted top and bottom as instructed but when i placed the poles in they would fall out most times. Unless i carefully took extra time to try to get them to lean to the right so they would stay put. There is nothing to prevent the pole from falling out. The rod always wants to go to a straight up and down angle and when it does nothing prevents it from falling out. It needs some sort of catch or something to hold the pole. I thought about re-mounting the top and maybe offset it a few inches from the bottom so the pole would lean to the right, but felt it just wasn't worth it.

The rack is pretty flimsy out of the box
When I was trying to mount the rack to the wall the screws holding the pieces together kept coming apart and the included screws do not really provide good grip. I ended up taking it apart and putting it back together with some of my own wood screws and using new drywall anchors and screws that I bought at the hardware store. The individual pieces are good quality, I think they just put them together with cheap screws.

Not good
I'm actually surprised by how bad this was. I expected no frills but really, it's just wood with notches, how bad could it be?One of the little 'arms' that hold the top of the poles was broken off and not even in the box somewhere. As in, it was shipped already broken off. The screws were bent and (get this) somehow ALREADY striped and 100% unusable. They were solid black so it wasn't like they had been used and returned because there was no wear pattern. They honestly looked melted. When I got my own screws to put it up none of them fit because the heads of the screws were all too big to use so I finally found these SUPER tiny screws that will probably not support the weight of the product or the poles. You need the longest tiny screws you can find. I didn't notice the broken part until I had already spent a ridiculous amount of time mounting the thing so I just left it up. It's in a garage so I don't care that much I suppose. But if you've got nice enough poles to display them, you're gonna want something nicer with less hassle.
