Works well for homemade cheese
I use this for small batches of homemade cheese ( 1.5 lb). I treated it with butcher block oil and cream (Boos) to protect the wood. I allow it to completely dry after washing after each use before applying more oil. I always do a quick wipe with vinegar for this and everything ( pots, utensils etc.) when making cheese. I have no idea how many lbs of pressure I’m using but it’s works ! Just tighten the knob tight for heavy pressure ( you may need to tighten slightly throughout the day as cheese releases whey) and less for lighter. If you make a cheddar and you still see gaps when you flip the cheese it means you need to tighten more. Just finished a Gouda. You can put a small round mold inside if you want round cheese - just be creative. Happy with purchase!

Porous wood + liquid = disaster
Using as a cheese press, not tofu. Decent for the price and happy to have it, as I will be using the parts as a template to making it again with better quality material.

Does what it does
Works well, needs better cheese cloth. I had to modify the top so that the press would not push the slats off the mounting rails but if you are making your own tofu from scratch it works well... not sure how much better than just wrapping the curd in a cloth and compressing it thou.

No more piling cans or whatever on my first tofu mold. Love this press. Does a great job n easy to use
