You could do that I suppose. But no part of your body should be off the bench except maybe the small of your back. Your shoulder blades should be squeezed together…your back should be arched and your feet should be planted as close to parallel with your hips as possible …you should be able to drive with your legs while maintaining bench contact with your glutes…you should feel like a tension spring when you lift the bar up. Hope this explanation wasn’t overly complicated. Look up a bench pressing tutorial on YouTube by Dave Tate or Louie Simmons and you can see how the bands should be used.
