Lifesaver
I'll try to make this review short, but I have a bit of info that may help a variety of people. I'm 5'2, 100lb female age 49. I'm quite handy, but no longer have the strength of my 20's. I recently purchased a Werner 24ft, Type lll (225lb) extension ladder to put gutter guards at a height of 17ft. I would have hired someone because I don't do extension ladders. Every time I'd get up to the 10'-12ft mark my knees would start shaking. I absolutely never felt safe, EVER, with them. I have no problem with A-frames. I even tried out the stabilizer with the u-bolts , and I felt just as fearful , and refused to use it. After purchasing the ladder I went searching for the best stabilizers. I almost bought the one from Werner, but thanks to someone's helpful review, their stabilizer (advertised as universal) doesn't even fit all of their own ladders, especially the one I purchased- INCREDULOUS!! I came across this product, and after researching and reading the good and bad reviews, I felt comfortable enough to order it. I did pray that it would fit my ladder, and that it was going to be a quality product and be a true lifesaver. Putting it together would have been easier if I read the instructions. Don't tighten the bolts until they're all in! This thing has some weight to it, but was so damn easy to install on to the ladder. The most difficult part was raising it. Because it's so top heavy, my old, short husband and I had a hell of a time pushing it up. We managed to get it to 15ft, but by the time I finished the job it was 13ft. I'm wondering if it's possible to raise the ladder first and then put it on. Then of course I'm back to climbing an unstable ladder. I'm sure strong guy(s) would have no problem raising it. Now to the moment of truth...this product is absolutely AMAZING!! Not for one second did I feel unsafe, and I was even able to squat down, like I was on the ground, to make cuts as needed for the gutter guards. Also, there were sections when the ladder was half on the window and half on the vinyl siding, and kinda crooked, and yet it still didn't budge. As long as the feet of the ladder are stable, this holds secure. For taller and heavier people it may work differently, so it would be helpful if others put their height and weight when writing a review. For me, this $70 was worth every penny to feel safe and secure.

Dangerously Topheavy
The concept is great. Execution stinks. 1st off, its steel and it heavy. When attached to top of ladder, leaving a couple feet of ladder above it for safety as recommended, the ladder becomes dangerously top heavy. You simply cannot erect the ladder except by placing one end against a fixed obj and walking it ip.Second, manufacturing tolerances are too forgiving. Hole locations are off enough to make it impossible to assemble it and get a symmetrical result. Ladder is always crooked as a result.3 Sharp edges galore!I tossed the box or else I would seriously consider shipping this piece of junk back.

Safe and easy to use but causes roofing damage.
This really does make going up on the roof safer, easier, and protect the gutter/ shingles edges from damage. The downfall of this product and the reason that I have given it 3 stars is that the yellow balls at the end do not provide enough surface area and dig into the roofing material causing damage. I had to put plywood underneath the feet to stop continuous damage while going up and down on my newly finished roof. This was a bit of a disappointment and I feel as though flat feet that pivot would be a possible better solution.

Quality control lacking but otherwise good
Would have been a perfect score if they had better quality control. As you can see in the pics, one of the pins retaining cable came off right away during assembly: they didn’t put enough of the cable end in the crimper. Also it looks like someOne grazed one of the parts while welding and QC never caught it.Otherwise, seems sturdy enough.

Very well made but didn’t fit my ladder
Well made, but the parts that sit on top of the ladder rungs was too wide for my ladder. May have to return unless I can figure a way to cut the metal

Ladder Standoff
Very strong and durable with nice bumper/feet, although I did not realize it was made of steel, as one just like it that I owned in the past was aluminum. You will need to people to stand the ladder up due to weight.

Excellent product
I wish I had bought this unit a few years ago. Aside from having to redrill the bolt holes, assembly was easy. A word about measuring the width of the rungs on your extension ladder. Measure the inside rungs that slide up. They're smaller than the outside ones. I didn't think of that and had to cut a quarter inch off the brackets so they would fit my 13 " wide inside rungs. Once I fixed my measuring mistake, and assembled it, the ladder extender works great.

had to modify
It was too wide for our Werner extension ladder and my husband had to cut it to fit. It's very sturdy. A bit cumbersome to move around easily.
