More of an eye opener that I expected
Being non fiction, I was surprised by how much was actually revealed.Well written and executed, this book unveils a lot more about the mafia than I thought I knew. It’s also really sad, I was quite upset by it, even though I was interested and had a good idea about what went on.I can imagine this could be quite a lengthy read for some, but by the end it shows a bigger picture and I’m glad I hadn’t been put off.

A captivating tale of immense bravery in the face of appalling mafia crime.
This is the true story of three women who try to break the mafia code of silence in order to give their children a better life. It is totally compelling and told with the clear, direct filter of a journalist. While a lot of the story is truely awful, the courage and conviction of these women and the people who support them is compelling and I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for the pace and drama of a novel in a nonfiction book. I couldn’t put it down. AM

An excellent read for anyone interested in the influence of the Calabrian mafia.
Enjoyed this fascinating insight into the workings of the mafia, the crippling effect it had and has on the women and children and the poisonous influence of so many mafia funded institutions across the world.
