Do not waste your money.Initially this was brilliant it really soothed my baby and the sounds were great and the night light. The penguin itself is good quality and very soft. The little Velcro hook really helps to attach it to your baby’s cot to ensure it stays safe and out of the way of your sleeping baby. The volume control is good having three different options to choose from and the night light is just the right level of brightness.However the reasons I don’t recommend this product are noted below.I agree with most of reviews you are constantly changing the batteries as it doesn’t last very long. This is really inconvenient especially if it dies in the middle of the night whilst trying to settle your baby after feeding etc..The sound has now just stopped working all together on it which is disappointing given how much my little one likes it. I feel like this was a waste of money as now I cannot use it for it’s intended purpose.Do your research and buy a more reliable product.

This was initially great but after only using for 5 nights and only being used a handful of times each night, the batteries already needed replaced. Would not recommend unless you want to be out a small fortune in batteries!

Lovely size for babies cot and warm glow

My baby has had it for 3 months and the sound has broken on it all ready .an dosnt play anymore found cheap one els were that dose the same

The media could not be loaded.  Such an adorable squishy cuddly toy which has a velcro strap to attach to cot bars or on a bed head that has posts or bars. The music box needs batteries which are behind a screwed down cover.As you'll see in the video the time allowance for you to leave a message is only 30 seconds so despite the box and instructions saying record a story for your child you cannot. I don't know of any story lasting just 30 seconds except if you orate the words 'The beginning, the middle and the end full stop'. It is nice to give a quick voice recording though to tell your child that you love them, they can keep this forever even after the penguin has long gone.My video goes through the sounds, settings and volume much better than I could explain in the written word. You can also see the size of the penguin in relation to my hand.I doubt I'd personally pay the current price of £35 but it does appear to be the average price for this type of thing and as this penguin is no better or worse than anything similar I think an average star rating is fair especially as the selling point says you can record a story when you can't. It should say you can record a message. It's also annoying that you have to keep unscrewing the battery cover to replace batteries, why not use rechargeable technology! This would be a better selling point and appeal to a wider audience. Who wants to be messing about with batteries at the last minute when your child has got used to this as a sleep aid! If it had a rechargeable battery I'd have given 4 stars.

Phoebe The PenguinNobody could fail to love this cuddly 'Phoebe The Penguin - Baby Sleep shusher'. Phoebe is supplied neatly packaged within a see through windowed box. She comes in two parts: Phoebe, along with an egg shaped capsule that fits inside her body. The beauty of this is that once the child grows and no longer wants the night light or sounds that come with it, they can have Phoebe as a cuddly toy instead by removing the capsule .The main capsule unit which has a battery box on the rear is powered by 3 x AAA batteries. This has a screw on the cover to prevent any batteries falling from the battery box. This screw needs to be removed by a screwdriver each time the batteries need to be replaced.Once batteries are installed and the main unit is inserted into Phoebe she is ready to use. She can be placed in with the child so Phoebe can be touched and cuddled, or Phoebe can be attached to the side of a cot.This has a nightlight that shines softly through Phoebe's tummy, the light will turn itself off after 20 minutes. Phoebe has several available sounds by way of 3 white noises which are said to be proven to comfort a baby, along with an Ocean sound and lullabies. You are also able to record your own voice to this as often babies are comforted by hearing Mummy's voice.Phoebe is certainly a lovable character, with her tummy glowing in the dark she will surely catch the child's attention. The sounds are decent quality and only last for a set time. The recording option does seem a little short at just 30 seconds, hardly enough time to tell a story as the listing suggests. All in all, she's a lovely soft cuddly toy that I'm sure any young child will treasure.
