Fantastic read
A really fun read that makes you rethink how you view the beautiful game. It’s a no brainer to buy at $14 CAD (on sale). I’d recommend it to anyone who has an interest in soccer/football and wants to get a better understanding of analytics in the sport (and already has a decent understanding of it).

The Painful Truth
First of all, it took me a long time (2 weeks) to finish this book. This was mainly because I kept looking up the players and plays the authors were referring too.It sheds a whole new light on a much loved game and predicts some scary futures. As with other areas of life such as medicine and natural sciences, statistics have helped disprove a lot of common beliefs which have led to a change in practice. This book goes unveils all those truths whether you want to hear them or not.I believe that this book is a must read for anyone working in the football industry. Whether you are a player, a manager or even a reporter. This book is mainly centered around English soccer but it does tough on other nations. It was released before the 2018 World Cup, so none of the 2018 data is included. The authors take you through the calculations on how they came up with their conclusions, which does provide authenticity but can drag on in some chapters.
