a great idea to get your fishing poles off the floor
I went on a fishing trip last year with a buddy. 10 rods total. Last year we broke one along the way. This year I decided to get a carrier. I looked at BPS and found one that would hold 7 rods, this one holds 5, except, it will hold two rods per loop and that means we can take 10. I'm driving a minivan and the longest rod my car and the VRC will hold is 7 feet.Used it on a trip to WI and it held 11 rods. We could have probably fit several more in, especially if we put handles from both directions.I tried the loops hanging down, facing up, velcro loops in front and back and for me, the best way is to have the loops facing up and the velcro in the back. The rod handles need to be in the back and the velcro can cinch down on them, so they don't move around with acceleration and braking of the van. If you're only using bait casters or spincast reels, you may need to put the rod ends at different ends. Beware, in my van a 6 foot or shorter, is the only lengths that can have the handles in the front loops.I'm really happy with the product. I'll add pictures once we have all of the rods in. Depending on rod length and reels, I'm guessing if you're patient, you could haul 12 and maybe 14 rods. Length really hampered my situation, but a larger vehicle should be able to handle longer rods and probably 16 - 20 rods if you use the buckle loops as rod holders and alternate the direction of the poles.

Nope, needs to clip over courtesy handles, no good for 1-piece rods
The advert photos carefully crop out the edges of the images that SHOULD show that this system requires the use of 2 sets of the courtesy handles (4 total handles). That means if one has a 4-door vehicle, there will be handles for the front doors (where the driver sits) and the seats behind that, which means that the rear cargo area cannot be used for the rearmost strap. That means one must either be able to break their rods down to 2 pretty short pieces if you want the rod tips at the front or you get to put the reels overhead in the front of the vehicle with the rod tips pointing rearward. I have 1-piece rods and this simply will not work, as I am not willing to have the reels banging me and a passenger in the heads, duh.Nice idea, but poorly thought out.

So far, so good!
I have had these in my 4Runner combined with some heavy duty suction cup mounts for a few months now and the combination is working perfectly. I have the front strap connected to the "oh sh*t handles" and the rear one attached to suction cups. There is a review here suggesting some suction cups that have a little strap and hook coming off of them, they were not strong enough. I had to return them sadly, but found stronger 4-5" twin cup suction mounts that have been working perfectly even through the hot weather, they have not let go. The strap quality seems to be of acceptable design and supports 5 fishing rods efficiently. Definitely worth the price paid without a doubt.

Have strong attachment points.
This is a great solution for carrying rods inside the vehicle. I did order some metal attachment straps from an on-line fastener distributor so that I could unbolt hooks in the rear of my vehicle and put the straps under the hooks and re-install. They webbing is very stretch resistant - like seatbelt material. You will have to gain some mechanical advantage to get these REALLY tight, but they hold. Easy to use straight forward and much less expensive that any you might find in the fishing dept at Cabela's.
