Wonderful Learning Possibilities
These were a great buy! I bought these to enhance my son's home schooling experience and I was on spot. Either home school or after school, these tiles are amazing. You can play games with them, such as, you and your child sit at the table and the child gives you a word to spell out. (Cat) So you choose the tiles and sound the word out and show the child how to spell cat. Then the child goes. They can pick the tiles out and sound the words out while doing it. This is one wonderful way to play and encourage your child to sound the words out while learning to read!

Fun and educational
I bought the Word Tiles (for my 1st grade grandson) and the Letter Tiles (for 4 year old grand-daughter) and put them into the pockets of an advent calendar I made. Each day the 1st grader found three or four word tiles and the 4 year old found three letter tiles in the appropriate day's pocket (along with a small piece of chocolate and a few stickers, etc). The first thing they did was pop the chocolate into their mouths but then they sat down on the floor and put their words into a sentence and letters into a word. The 4 year old worked to sound out the words and was quite proud of herself when she realized that sometimes the same letters could make more than one word. It was great fun and the educational value speaks for itself. One note of caution - the tiles are fairly small and I would keep them away from small children who might put them into their mouths. I am very pleased with the product.

Very helpful in learning process.
This item was extremely helpful in assisting my grandchild (age 5, kindergarten) with her homework. She loves using them as a learning tool and makes her assignments easier to complete. Would highly recommend.

Great but modifications need to be made.
Great product for teaching but you do need to make modifications. For example, you will need to put a line under lowercase b,d,p, and n so it makes it easier for your child to know the difference between each letter. You will also need to make adjustments to upper case i because it looks exactly like lowercase L. Adjustments to lowercase Q will need to be made because it could easily pass for lowercase b it's upside down. (See attached photo). Finally, you will not receive the exact number of letters for every uppercase and every lowercase letter. For example, I received nine E and nine e and only two C and two c etc.

Very Happy.
These are great! Just purchased these for my boys. We start homeschooling this year, and will be using these for word building and word families, etc. I was hesitant as many of the other reviews stated that the letters were misprinted on the tiles. Ours are all perfect. My two year old got a hold of them, and started stomping on them before I caught her, none of them broke. The boys seem to like them as well.I liked that these tiles have both upper and lower case letters. This is important for distinguishing names, titles, and beginning sentences. Most of the other sets I looked at only had lower or upper case, and they were much more expensive. All in all, I think these were a good buy.

Meh.
These tiles are pretty good. I imagine that these would work for one-on-one instruction for most people. For my needs, I ended up buying 3 tubs in order to have enough for a group of five students. I now have way too many of some letters and just enough of some for each student to have 2 of each lowercase letter and 1 of each capital letter.Pros: 1) The size of these tiles is great for storage and for the little fingers of children to manipulate. 2) The tiles are made of a rigid plastic that seems like they will last for a very long time.Cons: 1) Despite the fact that there are 176 tiles in this tub, there aren't enough for me – a teacher – to use with more than two students at a time. Obviously, there are multiples of every letter, however, there are only 2 or 3 tiles of several letters. 2) Some tiles are completely interchangeable (W/M; i/L [lowercase L and capital i]; d/p; b/q). This might be handy if you want to be able to change the letters used, but as a teacher, this is something that I would avoid. The last thing you want when teaching children about letters and sounds is any opportunity for them to become confused with how to position a letter. In an attempt to rectify this problem, I drew lines at the bottom of all tiles - red on vowels and black on consonants. Unfortunately, there was nothing to be done with the M/W problem. Capital Ms should not have slanted lines on the sides. It may seem minor, but when you're working with little kids that are just learning how letters look and how to write them, even this small issue can cause confusion for them. 3) A very minor problem is that the ink on some letters is somewhat smeared.

Keeps My 4-year-old Organized & Entertained
I LOVE this educational toy. But, not more than my 4-year-old son.He sits down and plays with these tiles for HOURS. He loves building words that he knows and it encourages him to go around the house looking for more words to build and learn. This is the BEST thing I could have purchased for my future "Spelling Bee Champion".Yes, there are a lot of tiles and they are small but, his love for them has also helped with organization skills. He cherishes them very much and does not want to lose a single one.I am going to buy another set in a few months because the words that he is building are getting longer and longer. This is great preparation for when he begins school.
