Outdoor ResearchSunbriolet Sun Hat

I live in a place with a high level of skin cancer due to the intense sunlight, and spend a lot of time outdoors in the as an environmental educator. This lightweight yet sturdy hat is perfect for my needs.The wide brim keeps sun off of my face and neck while working outside. It's got built in sun protection. The vents in the sides of the top of the hat let the breeze come in to cool the head without exposing it.I love that it folds down completely flat, which makes it perfect for popping into my suitcase when travelling, or sliding into my pack when indoors. The neutral color is perfect for going out in nature... it doesn't scare the birds away, so we can get quite close to the fauna of the forest without being seen.The option of sizes is a real plus; finally I can get a hat that fits perfectly rather than one that slides around on my head or is too tight. The cord on it keeps it from blowing away in windy conditions.I use this hat so much that I bought a second one so I can leave one in my workplace and have the other at home for working around the house on sunny days.This hat is worth every cent. So happy to have it.

This is truly a quality hat. I love that is stiffer than most sun hats and has a lot of style. This model of hat does run a little smaller than one might think. I ordered a medium because I have smallish head but it was just a bit too tight. I gave it to a friend and ordered a large which was perfect for my 7 and 1/8 size. It came unfolded which is appreciated. The only part that was a little wrinkled was the head cover portion, which was expected. I just steamed those wrinkles out. I highly recommend this hat for summer wear.

Stuff I love:-The brim shades the back of your neck as well as your face, but it's not outrageously big.-The brim doesn't flop around. Someone said it had a thin layer of foam inside -- whatever it is, it can be shaped.-You can easily flatten it in your luggage.-It's light nylon with some vent holes so it doesn't get hot.-It has a chin strap to hold it on in windy weather, but you can easily tuck that under the hat when not needed.-It looks like it might float for a bit if you drop it in water, but I haven't tested that.-It's machine washable. (They say to drip dry, though.)-It fits. My head is 21 1/2" measured around the crown 1/8" above the ear, along the lines I wanted the hat to fall (google how to measure for a hat) and a small fits perfectly. I could've ordered a medium if I wanted it looser. There's a drawcord around the crown to adjust.-Note: The crown isn't super high so if you want to wear your hair up underneath it, then you should probably size up.-The underneath of the brim is gray so you don't look too froo-froo. I ordered pacific blue and it's nice and summery and easy to find in a bag, but it's not loud and obnoxious.-It works for hikes as well as more dressy occasions. You can wear it with a sundress or hiking boots.

I purchased this hat at the recommendation of my dermatologist after the recent discovery of a very early stage melanoma. I'm very pleased with how light and breathable it is, while still providing excellent sun protection.I have a huge head, and the X-Large size seemed a little snug ... but I don't really notice it now and it stays firmly on my head.When I first saw it, I thought the brim was going to be too wide and I'd look a bit cartoonish, but I have to say it looks much better on me than I thought it would (and it's very hard to make me look good!).Highly recommended.

Seems to run a little small. If you have a large head and typically run an XL hat, this one may still feel a bit tight.Otherwise, no better hat for keeping the sun off your face / neck.

Eyecatching color. Great in a rainstorm. Had the same hat previously which I lost. It was not as bright a color.

Endlich ein Regenhut , der hält was er verspricht. Ich genieße es den Kopf nun nicht mehr unter der Kapuze zu haben; dadurch freieres Bewegen und der Regen kommt auch nicht mehr ins Gesicht !

Habe meinen ersten OR Seattle seit 18 Jahren und war mit ihm auf allen Kontinenten. Wurde im letzten Jahr undicht. Der neue passt perfekt und ich hoffe auf eine vergleichbare Lebensdauer.

Hat looks good but it was for a 15 day trek and the hat arrived late unfortunately

Gefällt mir sehr gut. Ich brauchte eine Kopfbedeckung zum Kayak fahren, ohne das mir an heissen Tagen die Ohren und Nacken verbrennen. Das leistet er hervorragend. Die Farbe gefällt mir ebenfalls. Er ist ausserdem klein zusammen zu falten, was Platz spart. Ober er regendicht ist, könnte ich noch nicht richtig ausprobieren. Lediglich der Preis ist etwas hoch.
