A great solution
This cane was perfect for my trip to an amusement park. I have had multiple hip & knee surgeries so standing for long periods of time causes pain in my hip, knees as well as my lower back. This cane allowed me to quickly sit & stand as needed. The buttons to open & close are very convenient & makes the process nearly unnoticeable. I am self conscious of having to use assistant devices as I am only in my late 30's so not being extremely apparent is important to me. The cane as-is was too tall for me (I'm 5'1"), so upon receipt, I was able to pop the bottom footing off & cut the cane to size with a hacksaw. It worked perfect. I cut it so that it was just about the correct height to use as a cane (only the slightest bit taller than my normal cane) & it made it the perfect height when I put the seat down. I recommend cutting it in small increments so that you dont cut it too short the first time around! I almost did!I also love that the cane folds up so that I could put it away when I was on rides or whenever I felt it was getting in the way. My only complaint is that after using it as a cane for an entire day, it was sore on the palm of my hand. I would like to see the top part slightly cushioned. It's definitely not the same comfort as using my regular cane which is specifically made with a comfortable grip...but given the fact that this cane solved 2 problems for me - walking & sitting - I was very very pleased with it. The other "seat canes" I looked at had 3 legs & looked cumbersome & uncomfortable to use as a cane. I was also worried that being a woman, I would have to sit with the middle bar in between my legs. I was also concerned it would put me a lot shorter than everyone else standing...which can make for difficult conversation. This cane means you are still on your feet but putting most of your weight on the cane. It takes the pressure off your legs & back...but not 100%. That was ok with me though. After a ride, I was able to find a proper seat when needed.I was a bit worried that I would feel unsteady on it but I didn't at all. I always made sure not to have it pointing in the direction of others (particularly little kids) as I was worried that they could knock it accidentally & I'd fall to the floor. I tended to have my husband stand behind me when I was sat on it or had it up against a wall.I will definitely be using this cane again...especially at times when I know I'll be waiting in lines.

It's wonderful and I love that it fits in my fanny pack
It's a very nice seat to take a quick break on, nice and durable, extremely light weight and extremely easy to use and then put back away and I love it that it fits in my fanny pack so I will always have it with me. And I glued a cushion onto the seat using a soft kneeling pad. I cut the kneeling pad to fit the seat and I matched up the kneeling pads handle with the flipsticks handle. Then I put a small finger sized hole through the pad so I can still push the button to put the seat in the cane position. Then I glued the seat to the pad with scotch super 77 spray adhesive and then I waited over night for it to dry and now this flipstick is much more comfortable to sit on and it still fits in my fanny pack. Awesome product.

Read the fine print
I received my flipstick and was dismayed to find it was not like the one the manufacturer (fashionable canes) advertises on their website, which is adjustable from 33.5" to 36". This one does not use the word "adjustable" and is 34.5 inches tall. Unless you look close, the pictures are identical. I was anticipating that both my husband and I could use it because of the adjustment (for myself at 35.5 and him at 36). Now I need to find someone with a tube cutter to shorten the cane for myself (It can be shortened up to 5 " and if requested at time of purchase, they will shorten it for you at no cost, or you can pay postage (both ways??) and they will shorten it for you). If I had noticed the difference, I would have spent the $4.00 more to buy the adjustable one from the manufacturer. After I get over my disappointment and get the cane shortened, I believe I will be quite pleased to use it. It is well constructed and will be convenient.

Flipstick cane
I have been having trouble with my knees, especially when I stand for a long time. I bought this to use in my garden when I am picking blueberries and for any other time when I am on my feet for a long time. It serves the purpose, but the seat is pretty hard, so I don't think it is comfortable for an extended time. I think it wouldn't work for someone who had any balance problems because you kind of have to balance yourself (making a tripod with your legs and the cane). It was fine for me though. When I go somewhere like a museum, I take it with me in case my knees are bothering me too much. It will definitely go in my travel gear.

so thought this sounding like something that would help
I have trouble standing due to medical reasons and was planning a trip to the UK. I knew I would have to stand at the airport, tours, etc, so thought this sounding like something that would help. It was perfect for my needs. The 4 star rating is due to 3 things: 1. the edge of seat where you put your hand (weight) when using as a cane was very rough and irritated my hand. I used a sock to wrap it while traveling and it was fine. I sanded it down when I got home and it's now fine. 2. the seat is very hard and could use some padding. 3. This Flipstick is not adjustable, but it happened to be the right height for me. There is another Flipstick that IS adjustable so be careful when ordering.

Received mine yesterday and already love it. I'm 68
Received mine yesterday and already love it. I'm 68, 5' 9", and only slightly overweight. This is an awesome product for someone like me who is not-too-arthritic, has good balance, and likes to walk/hike, but finds it painful on knees, feet, hips, or lower back to have to simply stand still for extends lengths of time when with a tour group or when visiting a museum or historical spot that gives you headsets (so that you wind up standing around and listening). That said, I give it five stars for me or someone like me. I was very pleased to find the weight and balance of this product to be quite similar to that f a walking stock or a cane. In fact, I wish the had a pointed tip for this, so I could use it as a hiking stick on unpaved trails. I'm not sure would be big enough for a tall man or an obese person, and I don't think it would be safe for someone with limited balance (who would probably be better advised to choose an alternative product with tripod legs.
