Weight!
We bought these to weigh down tarps in an outdoor space to protect from wind. They are nice and heavy and attach to grommets on the tarps. Soooo much cheaper than buying from any hardware store. FYI, not as heavy as old school carabiners, but unless you can find vintage ones at a garage sale, these are the closest substitute I have found.

Just what my tire chains needed
My old tire chains wouldn’t fit my new truck’s tires. They fell just a couple links short.They don’t now.

Lock constantly comes loose easily
I use these as a way to clip things to my hiking backpack. The lock doesn't stay tightly locked. As I walk, the lock continually loosens and I have to keep re-tightening it often. I'm worried it will come open and I'll someday lose something.

Beware "the bulge" - this may not fit many common 1/4"/7.0mm chains that adhere to NACM standard
The dimension picture in the product description doesn't list an extremely critical dimension, the width of "the bulge", which is the limiting factor on whether this particular Quick Link will fit thru a chain's link.This particular Quick Link has an unusually large "bulge" just above the threads (see 1st picture) that prevents it from passing thru the inside of the links of many NACM-compliant 1/4" (0.276"/7mm material diameter) chain. The bulge measures 0.424" (see 2nd picture). The 3rd picture shows the inside dimension of a link (0.413") from one such chain that I have that will not fit past the bulge. In total, 3 out of 4 of my chains would not fit. And many 1/4" chains sold here and at hardware stores have sub 0.4" inside width and will have this same issue. Note that NACM's specifications for Grade 30 Proof Coil Chain only require minimum 0.38" inside width.I have several other similarly sized Quick Links from various manufacturers that do not have this large bulge and had no issues fitting thru any of my assortment of chains' links.
