Read the 13 books pretty fast!
There are 13 books in the entire series. Overall, this is book 13. Let me start by saying that I loved this series. Better than Twilight all the way, especially the writing. So this is how it starts ... Elena Gilbert is a beautiful, spoiled, a bit arrogant at times, teen, who is used to getting what she wants, and she wants mysterious new boy, Stefan. But Stefan is hiding a secret, he is a vampire. Soon she is torn between Stefan and his brother, Damon. As soon as I was finishing a book, I would buy the next one straightaway. I think what I really liked about it was the fact that Elena was far from perfect, but she changed all through the series, and even made sacrifices. The more I read, the more I wanted to know which brother Elena would choose.I loved Damon's humour and personality, and the fact that he was not just 'pure black.' I read the entire series (13 books) pretty fast. Elena's relationship with Stefan was quite boring, but I always had a hunch that Elena and Damon was the real deal. Elena being far from perfect made the story more interesting. Challenges all through the series kept my interest, and the writing flowed well. Book 8 was the weakest, and I could tell the difference when it was no longer L. J. Smith writing the books. The characters also seemed a bit lifeless at times. However, I got used to the new writing style and the way the characters were portrayed quickly, and I think that Aubrey Clark did a good job in spite of the criticism she got from L. J. Smith fans. It was not her fault and her job was not easy at all. I would read more books from her. The ending was satisfying, however, there are things that should have been considered, such as, if Elena went back in time and spent years without crossing her path with Damon or Stefan, then she would not have gone through what she did in the dark dimension. She would not have helped particular, important characters. She would not have saved that pregnant slave. I think this was disregarded. I rate each book 5 stars, except book 8 because it was the weakest in terms of plot and characterisation and book 13 for the reason explained above. Book 8 and 13 - 4 stars.

Lazy and disappointing
I wouldn't say that this book was bad but it was a slightly lazy and disappointing end to what was once a great series and certainly didn't provide a sense of closure. I feel like they realized that the franchise wasn't doing so well anymore and decided to hastily conclude it. Honestly it's further proof that they shouldn't have stolen the series from L.J.

Absolute rubbish......
I've read all the TVD books and this is probably the worst yet. Loved the earlier ones but they've seriously gone downhill. Wish I had the willpower to stop reading them but I'm an eternal optimist and keep hoping they improve!
