It is sturdy and effective. The plastic guard is great because the thing is sharp! I only use It on organic produce since pesticides, insecticides and environmental could be stored in the priduce's skin.I love this product. It is easy to Clean too!

This is a great product. It's sharp, perfect for zesting citrus. The blade protector could be better, but it works OK.

Bought this micro plane for our second kitchen in the condo. Both my kitchens are well stocked (cookware, utensils and minimum uni-taskers) and for the time I spend there, I am highly critical of the hardware I own. First, the plane is 5-star sharp. It was easy to zest lemons and limes and made quick work of frozen ginger. Second, this unit is a few inches shorter than the 11" tool in the primary kitchen but I actually felt it was easier to handle when working around the curve of a lime. Third, the shorter size allows it to be stored in smaller spaces. The blade guard does not slide off like most other tools, rather it snaps off. I found it no different to clean by hand versus other tools of the same design. Highly recommended.

Zesting fruits and cheese.. but harder to clean!

I have several favorite recipes that call for me to zest a lemon. This zester made it SO EASY. Quick, efficient, and perfectly zested for plenty of flavor for my soup. And clean up was a breeze.
