Is it worth the money? Yes and no. That's going to depend on what you're using it for.Need to identify something at a distance or want a better look at the full moon? This is fine for that. Optical quality is not good enough for photography, especially if you're going to enlarge and print.The scope: Works okay. Only two adjustments, one for eye relief, one for focus.Unless you use digital zoom, which reduces quality, the scope leaves you with a circular image in the middle of the phone's rectangular screen. Using digital zoom to fill the screen reduces image quality even more than the mediocre optical quality of the glass in the scope itself.The "Tripod": This thing is just plain junk.The Mount: I tried with and without the phone cover. It sort of worked without the cover. Way too flimsy. Trying to tighten the mount to the point where it won't move made me feel like the plastic would crack. This leaves it so the mount doesn't hold the scope reliably centered over the smartphone camera lens or at a fixed distance from the camera lens, so the camera is constantly trying to focus. I had to use the mount extended fairly far from the clamp to prevent the clamp from pressing power and volume buttons on my phone, which made the mount more "flexy". Speaking of focus, camera focus is only as good as the actual focusing with the scope itself.

If you are expecting a high end ocular device this is not it. It is not going to function like a $800 spotting scope. It is plastic including the lenses. Which makes it light weight perfect to toss in a back pack, or belt. I wanted something to take on day hikes with out dragging a heavy bulky pair of binoculars. It is easy to focus and the eyepiece is adjustable so you can adjust it to you eye or glasses. It actually works better than I expected. for the $48.00 it cost. I purchased mine with the tripod but that is worthless, already in the garbage, don't waste the extra money. Just get the basic one by it's self. If you want a tripod or phone holder by one separately.

Kind of disappointed in the clarity of the view looking through the lense.

It does what the specs do but the eye piece is too small and makes it difficult to spot.

Misleading description, no smartphone connection. Low magnification, cannot see for miles as advertised.

Did live to the experience in useful

I use it to help sight in my rifle scopes. Also comes in handy when looking for bobcats that are getting my chickens. I can focus on things around 35 yards and way beyond with amazing clarity. I love this little thing a lot. Its also good even closer but I like using it for farther out targets. In the forest it can focus on the the surrounding tree line but I can still focus through the branches of the closer trees and clearly focus past them to see whatever I want to see beyond them with great clarity best spotting scope I have regardless of price.

Does not do exactly as it says on the box.Zoom in on objects far away, bring them closer! NOT A CHANCE! Don't waste your money, or buy some binocculars. I was sucked in by the thought of getting some great close-up shots using my mobile and the promise of just that. What a load of rubbish.

I bought this as an Xmas present for my husband as I saw a review on tv of somebody using it on their phone only to find out that you need the adapter for your phone separately to use it! You could easily have made a universal one and included it as this has now made the item costly. I wasted my money

As you can see, images made with iPhone alone and Starscope compared show the superior quality of the Starscope image. Problem is that the tripod barely weighs a few ounces and makes the Starscope almost unusable. I was lucky to take the photo with the Starscope by holding it in my hand. The view is Beckford's Tower in Bath at a range of 1.9 miles.The second image is the result of using the moon filter that was recommended for the Starscope. Clearly inadequate. The (almost) full moon is a shapeless white blob with no craters showing at all. No mares either. Taken at 9:42pm Friday 15 April 2022. I copied in an image taken from internet to show you what you ought to see.This Starscope is a toy only useful for land purposes. Do not bother to use it to view the Moon or other planets.

Unit good enough for me but dose not live up to reported spec. The cheap flimsy tripod is rubbish , so decided to use my own (from my photography gear ) It won't fit , thread is different ??? It's the only bit of kit I've come across that dose not have the international thread form ?Weird? The hand strap is only held on by a another flimsy plastic threaded component , no confidence in it ? Awaiting delivery of the mobile phone adapter but also not confident in it's ability to stay put , as per other reviews , glad I've purchased a cheap versionUpdate : CLEANED THE TRIPOD MOUNT SCREW THREADS AND NOW ACCEPTS OTHER BETTER TRIPODS

Advertised as for use with a smartphone but has no means of comnnecting one and it is not clear which additional adapter would be suitable.Item was returned without assessing other features.Delivery service was excellent.
