IRON CHEF SAUCE HOISIN MU SHU

I did not think it possible to ruin Hoisin Sauce, but Mu Shu has found a surefire way to do it. From the very start, I could tell there was something wrong with the bok choy dish that we've made dozens of times. Unfortunately, we'd shopped at a chain supermarket (never again!) instead of our local Asian one, and Mu Shu was picked out of necessity. Too sweet, so much so it made it difficult to tell it was hoisin; we would have done better to use straight soy sauce instead. We threw away the remaining bottle, it was just that unpalatable.

Edible but kind flat & commercial tasting compared to other hoisin sauces I have had. Lacks consistency and richness in flavor.
