Volumizing Hair Clay Pomade, 4 oz

My hair isn't the greatest, and despite being thin, has a mind of its own. This pomade takes care even of the shorter hairs that want to stick out, and obviously styling the longer hair is a breeze. It's matte enough that while you can tell I have product in my hair, it isn't screamingly obvious. I've been using it for a long time and several jars over the years came kind of dried out, but if anything, I preferred them to the fresh ones, you just need to work it between your palms for longer. If the claims of it consisting of mostly natural ingredients are to be believed, there's simply no other product that could replace it for me.

Here's my review on battleborn's clay pomade... firstly, you should know that I have dyed hair (obvious in the pictures) and my hair type is medium thickness with thick density. What's that mean? My hair isn't fine or thick, it's somewhere in between and I have a TON of it on my head. Okay, now then - let's talk about the product - everything will be on a scale of 5, with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best.Tin (5 of 5) - It comes in a 4oz glass amber jar with a simple, clean looking label.Scent (5 of 5) - If you're a fan of bay rum, you're going to LOVE this bay rum scent. It's SO good. And if you don't know what bay rum smells like... it's a bit woody and sweet, with a touch of spice. It's on the masculine side, but as a lady, I love smelling it on myself throughout the day.Scoop/breakdown (5 of 5) - The scoop on this product is soft and the breakdown is very easy - there's no clay clumps or wax balls that require extra effort to breakdown.Application (4 of 5) - In longer hair (like to the bottom of the lip or longer) its got some tug and pull, BUT it doesn't give tangly ends in my hair. I recently cut my hair to a more manageable length (to the tip of my nose) and there's minimal tug and pull at this length.Styling (5 of 5) - This product is INCREDIBLY intuitive, once it's in the hair it styles with ease. I've used this product on and off for nearly 2 weeks and its SUPER consistent, which is amazing. I know when I put this in my hair that its going to give me the style I want and its going to be quick so I get on with my day.Endurance (3 of 5) - Okay, This is where I believe most people will think this product falls short. When I was sporting my longer hair (again, past the bottom of my lip) it would only hold for an hour or so before I found myself finger combing my hair back into position. With my shorter cut, I found that it lasted longer, about 3 hours before I started finger combing my hair back into place. For me, I don't mind restyling so it isn't a big deal - but I know many people who want their hair to just stay - and this product won't last more than 5 without a restyle.Overall (4 of 5) - This is an excellent product. It's so much better than 90% of the stuff here on amazon. It smells great, it scoops soft, and styles easily. If you're looking for a home-brewed clay, made with care and GOOD ingredients - look no further, you've found a winner.

Excellent texture, hold, and ease of use. Smell is a little musky/medicinal, like older men's cologne, but more subtle. Definitely worth the value, and very satisfied. Would recommend an unscented or natural frankincense or spice oil scent.

Loved the first jar I bought and glad to support a local Nevada based business, but when I went back to reorder the cost had increased by a few dollars. I Couldn't justify it. Hope they'll find a good price point but I just don't see it as an $18-25 product. Also wish they would go to a wider top container. Hard to maneuver big fingers in the little jar top.

This product retains all of the good characteristics of a clay and a pomade. I found it easy to style loose styles in dryer hair as well as tight comb-overs and pompadours in damp hair. The ease of use and flexibility in this product really makes it a go to for me.

I was hoping this would be a good product from other reviews but I was mistaken. The product cap was not sealed and when I opened it the product was very dry and crusty. A waste of my money. Will never buy again. Sticking with Woody’s cream hair paste.

The “Bayrum” scent is legit! Easy to scoop. Easy to break down and apply. Washes out with a single shampoo. Use for a textured style. For my hair, the hold is in the firm range.

Smooth scoop and application, hold description spot on, and finish in the hair is exactly what I was looking for. 10/10
