Will last a life time, if not longer
Rothco sales this knife for lower price than anyone else i know. I'm not sure how they do it but it is the Same Sheffield Knife everyone else sales for $10-20 more. Buy it from Rothco, and save money.Currently made by Sheffield Knives, the Genuine British Army Clasp Knife is the standard NATO issue VN21307 pattern clasp knife approved for service by the British Ministry of Defense. It is known by several names include the MOD clasp knife, the three piece clasp knife, the NATO approved clasp knife, and of course, the Genuine British Army Clasp Knife. It is has been made by several cutlery companies in the UK, including Rodgers and Ibberson. This model is produced by Sheffield Knives in Sheffield, England. It meets the specifications and standards of the current issue knife used by British military forces. While it is commonly called the Three Piece Army Knife it is used by all branches of British military. The obverse side of the handle is stamped:The GenuineBritish Army KnifeSheffield EnglandThe knife comes in a clear plastic case with a sticker giving instructions for care. For an added bit of advice the can-opener still states the old adage which gave these names yet another nick-name, the "oil the joints" knife. The sheepfoot blade, marlin spike, and can opener have a highly polished finished while the handles have a satin finish. As with so many riggers, it has a very strong back spring which is really helpful for holding the non-locking blades in place when open. Of course it does mean that you will need to exert more effort when opening the blades. The rivets protrude from the handle but are well finished and will not snag in your pocket. This is a solidly built knife designed to hold up under the rigors of harsh military service and it will do just that! All in all a terrific knife that is worth the $40-$75 that it usually sells for. There is a reason why there are so many civilian copies of this knife. But in the end it is safe to say, "Often imitated but never duplicated. If you collect riggers, then you need one of these. If you just want a good solid work knife that is going to last a life time, then this is also the knife. If properly cared for; this knife could be around for generations.

Package clearly opened when arrived
The item arrived in a flimsy clear plastic packaging (envelope) that was cracking at the seams. Fingerprints could clearly be seen all over the item upon closer inspection - the item had obviously been removed from the packaging and handled before it was shipped. I bought this item as a gift and after seeing the condition it arrived in, there is no way I could give this item as a gift. I will not be patronizing this seller again. For a ~$50 knife, you'd think it would come in some sort of formal packaging that you would be happy to gift to someone. Not this one. If you are buying this for yourself then have at it I guess.

Good, solid tool
This knife has a hefty feel. A good basic knife. And very few come with a marlin spike, as this knife does.

I like it
Well-enough made, though it looks like it was riveted together by a blacksmith on his lunch break. The blades are shiny, sharp, and polished. It is surprisingly thin and light. The marlinspike and straight-edged blade make it essentially a sailor’s knife, and isn’t Britain better known for its navy than its army? I like the slotted screwdriver blade which you can use without opening the knife.I’m a sucker for knives with a history, and this one is useful too.

Needs some quality control.
Arrived in a timely manner. Thats takes care of the positive. Oh, very sharp knife. Now really done with positives. Rivets sticking out as much as they do, totally unacceptable. Two of the rivets on one side each border on being sharp. Hope I never need the can opener because even after applying enough WD-40 to float a ship I was not able to lift it out without resorting to the use of a second implement as an aid. Love British stuff and the clasp knife was mentioned during some mystery episode. A real bust.

Scratches All Over, Can Opener is WAY too TIGHT to even try to Un-fold it!
I am REALLY disappointed by the appearance as well as the user-friendly part of this knife. For $50.00 you can buy a genuine Swiss Army kinfe with a lot more functions. I have a genuine USMC pocket knife (new when I bought it) for the half price of this British army knife and it is MADE IN USA (THE BEST QUALITY military pocket knife ever been made). I won't buy any other product from this vendor nor manufacturer (period)

Excellent Knife
excellent knife: sturdy, solid feel and well constructed: blade is sharp and the marlin spike is a unique feature: this is a solid trail knife, every day useful, and would make a great gift

Not the original
This is a knock off. I have bought several of these knives before and they always come in a box and the Rodgers name is always engraved on the larger blade. Not so with what I received.
