Cannot Recommend
One reviewer hit it on the head saying it tasted like a young cheese without the tang, bite, and texture one would expect from a good quality aged parm. I bought the parm block and romano - buth basically sucked. It doesn't even smell strong. If it was aged for two years it would be hard as a rock and have a smell and taste that would rock your world from a mile away. This is more like a watered down creamier version. It's not disgusting by any means - very salty and nutty - but my first impression was that it tastes like a very salty cheddar. Would be great on a grilled cheese probably - but not for Italian cooking. I will eat it but definitely will not buy again. Prior to trying this I always bought BelGioioso Parmesan and Romano. Can get it at Walmart for about 4 bucks a block. Yes I know - it's American made and only aged 6 - 9 months - but it has the traditional parm bite you would expect along with the beautiful pungent odor - and blows this expensive "so called" made in Italy / 2-year aged cheese away.[UPDATE] - I'm upgrading to three stars. We've been using this cheese all week and I hate to give a review that's overly critical if not warranted. I stick to my original review, but will add that it is still a very good tasting cheese (I purchased both Parm and Romano) - but mild one at that. I still find it difficult to believe it was aged two years; however; I also realize there are many regional variations in Italy, and perhaps this particular cheese simply has a milder taste than some. It's a good cheese and we ;love the saltiness of it; but to my taste, it is like the difference between a good mild cheddar and a great extra sharp. IMO, If you're not eating sharp, then what's the point? Hope this clarifies.

Expensive But Still Good
I purchased this cheese for grating as very few stores offer fresh ground Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese, I also purchased the same cheese by "Argitoni" at about half the cost. I could not tell the difference between the two when ground. Both are very good cheeses but next time I will opt to only purchase the Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese by "Argitoni".

Mine is Perfect
I love it--perfect eating cheese; I'm not an expert but have eaten a lot of Parm in Italy and find this delicious. I ordered in mid-April, don't remember date it arrived but it was carefully packed in dry ice with a perishable warning on the box. I didn't open immediately so didn't review then, but when I wanted to this week it wasn't listed in Amazon's orders and I knew I'd gotten it there. After trying again today, a picture and link turned up on a page with categories to search (finally). But when I searched My Orders again it wasn't there. Don't understand why, but I want to fin dit to buy again.

One of the best!
This Parmigiano Reggiano is so good! It is one of the best that I have ordered so far. The taste is superb. A hint of sweetness with the cheese is daunting. A little pricey but worth it. I live in rural America where the locals think cheese comes powdered in a round box. Even traveling to the nearest grocery their parmigiano reggiano is mostly just a salty taste flat cheese . This cheese has a bite that is wonderful.

Real deal!
I give this every holiday season to my brother and his wife. Lasts nearly an entire year for them. It is good to store it in an airtight cheese case. This is the real, genuine parmigiana reggiano which can only be made one place in Italy. Buy this and you’ll never purchase that yucky stuff in the green canister again!

Not great, but reasonably affordable
It's hard to get great parmigiano reggiano at a price normal people can afford, these days. This is about as good as it gets. Still nothing like my Nana bought in NYC in the 60s, but not bad. Let it sit for a few months to harden more and it gets pretty good.

Parmigiano Reggiano more than a shaker chesse.
I have ben eating a low carb diet for a while, always looking for ways to keep me on my path. This cheese is a departure from basic mild mannered cheese, its a punch in the mouth in a good way, firm, slightly crumbly, slightly salty, satisfying. A stand alone snack with tea or sparkling water (I don't drink wine, but if you must please do). This cheese has been relegated to an impoverished version of its self in the US. I would urge you thrill seekers to try it.

Superb flavor and freshness
Who knew I could purchase the finest parmigiano at Amazon? I have been eating fine Italian cheese for over 75 years when my Italian father grated Romano or parmigiano on pasta for my first taste of pasta. As an adult I have purchased cheese at grocery stores, Italian specialty shops, and health food stores. When I cut into this brand, preparing it for grating in my food processor, I sampled a sliver and then another and another. At over $20 a pound I expected to taste a run of the mill parmigiano. Was I wrong! For a moment I was in Italian heaven. I will never purchase another brand.
