Great Writing Experience at an Excellent Price Point.
In a nut shell...beautiful deep maroon color, very well made, smooth and reliable writer. My second Sailor 1911s and just as pleasurable to write with as my previous, albiet in a finer (Medium) nib size.No converter supplied with this purchase, I bought one seperately through Amazon.A perfect daily use fountain pen!

My first Sailor with a bad nib & feed
This is my 5th Sailor, my favorite brand. This one came with a poorly ground nib, and excessive ink flow. The nib had a pronounced "sweet spot" (a flat area to distribute ink) at an impossibly low angle. A chipmunk couldn't hold it that low to the paper.Tine alignment was perfect and not the problem. On inexpensive paper the ink just gushed out. I reground the nib myself, removing the flat spot and some baby's bottom and improved the feed, and it now acts like a Sailor should, with some Italianesque feedback on premium paper (Rhodia, Apica, bagasse paper). On common paper it is now OK.The maroon color is very rich, and the shape of the Standard size is more pleasing to me than the larger models. Fits easily in all shirt pockets. Great for small or medium hand size. The fit and finish is much better than my Sailor Sapporo and equal to my Realo.Be aware that the Sailor converter has a very small ink capacity. Buy some cartridges (and refill them with a syringe) if you have a medium or broad nib and want to make it through the day.
