A worthy improvement over SC2K
The first thing you should know about SimCity 3000 is that it is essentially a remake or an enhanced version of SimCity 2000. By this I mean that it has the same gameplay, but better graphics, more tiles to build your city on, more disasters, and more in-depth budgeting, pollution, fire control, crime, interaction with other cities, etc. So, if have played SC2K and are expecting an entirely new game, you should skip to SimCity 4, which, from what I understand, is more of an improvement to the series (I haven't played it yet). Going back to SC3k, probably the greatest improvement over SC2k is the new way that power lines work. No longer does every single building/zone need to be connected directly to a power plant. Instead, you can connect the power plant to one part of your city, and all building and zones surrounding the end of the power lines will receive electricity. This makes power management all lot easier, and gives the player more time to focus on expanding other parts of the city. Another almost equally appreciated improvement is the vastly expanded adviser system, which provides the player with vital feedback as to how the city is doing. Now, instead of having to check the news ticker and budget advisers constantly, you can simply go to the "meet" tab, where advisers and petitioners will fill you in on the problems that they encounter in their own department, and in general respectively. It's somewhat difficult to explain, but it provides a much more organized, convenient and useful source of feedback than was available in SC2k. Overall, SimCity 3000 is an awesome game and sizable improvement over SimCity 2000, but the core gameplay remains the same. If you've only played 2000 and want to see where the series has gone, this is a must have, and if you haven't played any of these games and want to catch up before SimCity (2013) comes out, this would be a great place to start. As for getting the normal or Unlimited versions, the Unlimited version is the obvious choice, as it simply has more content, and comes in a fancy box.

A must buy for PC. Literally.
This is most likely (hard to remember...) the first game I ever played on PC, and I still love it. For starters, there is the music. Irritatingly catchy, it has the habit of getting lodged in the brain and STAYING there. Not in a bad way, however- it's refreshing sounding, if you can fathom that. The graphics (for its time) are amazing, but with the computers today, it runs blazingly fast. That's another perk- with older titles, you have the power to never experience lag again. All of the sim games are amazing, in my opinion, but this is the crown jewel. Build up cities, then break them down- if you're that kind of person. Watch cars and people storm your busy streets, and try to imagine a way to get them where they need to be faster. The gameplay doesn't initially sound like it would be that addicting, but trust me- it is. You'll be glued to the screen to an unhealthy degree. If you enjoyed this title, there's much more out there- try Sim Farm, Sim Ant, Sim Earth, or, if you own all of the sim games, pick up all of Chris Sawer's titles- Roller Coaster Tycoon, Transport Tycoon, Locomotion, & much more. You can find them all on this site. If you like gaming, you NEED to own this. Not exaggerating.

Did Not work in Windows7
I used to enjoy playing SimCity on my Windows98 computer that I have long since replaced. It was not surprising to me that this disk would not automatically load because of it's age. There are a lot of people like me who love SimCity and do not want the online version and that is why I chose this older version. I tried to load it in a virtual machine with linux, with Mint and in DosBox. All I can say is I wasted my money. I am not sure that the executable file is even on the disk. The case was cracked and the envelope torn. I should have returned it right away, but life was too busy for me to troubleshoot through all the loading issues at first. Then a month had gone by and I could no longer return it.Bummer, waste of money. But ultimately my fault for not investigating compatibility first.

The game itself is very fun to play and much simpler to use then Sim City 4 but much bigger maps then 2013 edition. In fact the SMALLEST map is bigger then the largest of the Sim City 2013 edition. You can see a youtube video here. [...] Hope the link turns out.BUT the game WILL NOT work on 64 bit computers. It needs a 32 bit machine or it will install but crash the moment you click to start it. On Windows XP 64 it sorta worked but the sound was way delayed and the mouse was unusable.DO NOT get it if you have a newer then 2005 PC.
